Cork

Great game today again but still getting caught in possession too much and losing it in dangerous places , got away with one today but then put mee in trouble for their first , needs to work on moving it quicker

We have seen the best of Cork, who now gets slower with virtually every game

First one to be replaced this summer

We can't afford an instant replacement of that quality , but we do need to get some midfielders in as cover and eventually replacement

Another poor ball from Hendrick that gave away possession, ahead of their first. That was the mistake which started their move, although Cork certainly should have done better.

You’re telling me that Burnley, a profit making Premier League Football Club, with their new technical director scouting 22 professional leagues and their TV money resources simply can’t find a player that exceeds the quality of,

*checks notes*,

Jack Cork.

Cork has fallen off badly this season and I can’t see him reaching the levels we saw 18-20 months ago. At the moment he’s the only one who can really be placed in that more defensive role, hence why he hasn’t properly been dropped all year.

Has to be the first one to be replaced this summer, no messing about.

Cork has looked rather lightweight and struggling to keep up to pace in the last quarter of most games this season. (And I take no pleasure in
posting that).

He just isn’t physical enough anymore. Picks the ball up facing our goal, looks to move across the middle of the pitch, and gets eased off it by the opposition midfielder in a dangerous position. Happens at least once every game, and very often leads to a chance or goal conceded.

This is where a player like Billing, 22 years old and a powerful 6’3” defensive mid would be a big upgrade.

If you want to see what a non top 6 midfield should look like actually, have a look at Watford. So much energy in Capoue/Doucoure/Pereyra.

Tbf to Cork it probably hasn't helped him playing pretty much the full 90 minutes in every game since the start of last season. Could do with being rested now and again.

My big issue with Cork is he rarely plays 1 or 2 touch football when it's quite congested. It's 3 or 4 touches which leads him to get under pressure and lose it

I wouldn't be too disappointed if neither Cork nor Hendrick were with us next term.

A good career in the Championship awaits them.

I don't have any stats but it wouldn't surprise me if a disproportionate amount of opposition goals came from these two losing possession.

As a overweight 30 something, I genuinely think I'd offer more than Jeff.

What was that decision , or lack of it in the first half.

Hopefully he'll be gotten rid off this summer.

We are not a club who can just get rid of players like Corj and Hendrick. Both will still be important squad players next year we just need to add that extra bit of quality to supplement what we already have.

You can only play 1-2 touch when there are options available, we're a defensive side, there's rarely short forward balls on.

There should be better options available in the transfer market but we can't expect too much from Cork's role in the current 'anti-football' system. He does a good job and he's a good worker.

I was never a Jack Cork fan the 1st time he played for us on loan, but last season he was excellent and I warmed to him. This season he has been the Jack I remembered from his first spell at the Turf, and now is the time for an upgrade.
We should certainly keep him as he will be a good squad player

Overworked, like several of our players. This is a very tough league in which to play the majority of a full season in a 4 man midfield.

I thought Cork showed glimpses of his former self today, especially first half. That said he has been off the pace for most games this season and Westwood seems to do the bulk of the work in midfield. Maybe it is tiredness, as someone else said, but I think he needs some serious competition for that spot, which may just light a fire underneath him again.

We’ve won five premier league games with Hendrick on the pitch this season. If he is doing what Dyche wants then he’s hardly a beacon for the managers tactics Spijed.

But about Cork....He's now far too slow and gets caught in possession time after time, It happened against Olympiakos back in August and it happened again today as swell as numerous times in between, so no change there. A truly great signing two years back, but now we really, really need to move on!

We may well be able to identify a number of players that fit your requirements, but then we, a relatively small Club in East Lancashire, have to research his character, personality, bad habits, and medical history. Once that's all clear, we need to offer him a deal acceptable to him, his agent, and then sell the area to his family, not withstanding the relagation clauses that will be in the contract.

We will offer a bonus structure, with many dubloons, based on us staying in the Premier League .. and a further promise that if a " bigger Club " comes calling, we will not stand in his way ...

Having spent many weeks doing this, our " target " may have his pen poised above the dotted line, but if a " Big City " club swoops at the last minute, offering £10k a week more, and a chance for his current " squeeze " to be 20 minutes from Harrods, and mix with the London set, then we're f****d !

It's not quite as easy as some would make out !

It is the last match in a very long season of running, for Jack Cork. He will be feeling it more than most.

Give him a break. New season, new players and others available. Let's wait to see what happens.
