You have to be "not quite right" to go on it in the first place. It's little wonder if in the mix of exhibitionists, narcissists, and general troublemakers, there is someone who is genuinely mentally ill.

When you think about it, It’s basically a show that gets laughs at those with drug, mental health problems etc
The audience are there to see a circus, and Jereny Kyle likes to sit there and tear chunks out of people. I get that most on there signed up for the show and brought their issues on themselves but I’ve always felt that it’s not really right.

Re: Jeremy Kyle
Went to watch it live a while back which was an eye opener.
Couple of brothers on the show we watched and Kyle was ripping into one then mentioned his attire. The lad replied “you lot made me wear this though” which was quickly brushed over and never made the TV cut.
Also so much said by JK to people on the stage which was too harsh to end up on actual show once edited. It seemed like it was just a queue of people lined up for JK to belittle more than anybody should, safe in the knowledge it’d get a few cheap laughs.

Guy commits suicide after failing lie detector. He says he’s never cheated on his girlfriend. They split.
Would you trust a lie detector on a tv show? If it comes out to be a setup Kyle could be in deep sh1t.

Given that polygraph tests are only between 80%-90% accurate, you have to wonder how they are allowed on the show, anyway.Tricky Trevor wrote:Guy commits suicide after failing lie detector. He says he’s never cheated on his girlfriend. They split.

100 people take the test, you'd expect at least 10 results to be incorrect. That's a lot, when you consider the number of tests that show has.

JK is actually a decent bloke , likes a drink and loves the horses . Met him twice once at a charity so when he waived his fee ( hardly anyone ever does) .
The underclass love his show and a dream come true to appear on it . They used to pay a grand plus expenses ( hotel /food etc ) and had feckin gazillions of applicants .
If these bottom feeding filth wanna be on tv and discuss their lives of self pitying drug /alcohol /violence /abuse etc let em I say . I’m amazed half the ones that gave been in his show aren’t dead tbf

I guess it depends on which source you look at. Most seem to differ from each other.DomBFC1882 wrote:96/97% accurate apparently Frank but you're right I think it's a load of bs
But let's go with 97% for argument's sake. That's on average, 3 from every 100. That is still a lot, over the course of a few years. It should be 100% before they use it. I can understand the entertainment side of using it, but it still has the potential to cause one hell of a problem when it comes back with an incorrect result.

It's the 21st century equivalent of going round Bedlam while pointing and laughing at the inmates, but still, it's good to see that it can bring out the compassionate side in some people.AlargeClaret wrote:If these bottom feeding filth wanna be on tv and discuss their lives of self pitying drug /alcohol /violence /abuse etc let em I say . You’re not far wrong but perhaps your issue is with the viewers who no doubt lap it up . God knows how many years it’s been on tv but seems to be as popular as ever.Billy Balfour wrote:It's the 21st century equivalent of going round Bedlam while pointing and laughing at the inmates, but still, it's good to see that it can bring out the compassionate side in some people.

there is a market for **** though, the ITV types love their pap filled shows, give them stuff about katie price or those dollops on loose women and they're happy. Ant and dec are kings in their world, and this kyle show is right up their street.

Re: Jeremy Kyle
What made it worse when watching live was when JK came out and started hyping up the crowd and they then gave the audience scenarios to pre record reactions of “uhhhh, ahhhhh, booooo” etc ...
Also the prewarning before going in of “please don’t laugh like you do at home because the people onstage can actually see you here and it isn’t nice”
JK then telling the crowd “you’re in for a treat with this next one, wait til you see them” .... whilst the next “contestants” were backstage and being mic’d up to enter the coliseum.
It shows that the ITV lot know why people watch the show though and they’ve catered to the audience to a tee.

Horrific idea for a tv show. But not surprised it’s lasted so long. Watched generally by the same people who would film some awful atrocity. A product of a sick society. Cheap tv. Sadly, cheap lives.

Filming has also been suspended, not just broadcasting. They must have a real concern that the suicide was brought on by his appearance.

For people who don’t watch it, it surprises me how well informed they are about its content. 96/97% is the reason that they don’t base their case on a single question/answer. Now do you understand why they use a polygraph?

Having said that a polygraph test cannot draw a definite conclusion that someone has lied, only identify changes in body reactions that might imply that someone might be being dishonest. However, what amazes me is that people agree to be wired up.

Re: Jeremy Kyle
I don't like the show and Kyle (according to my daughter who, sadly, has been in the audience once) said he is unbelievably arrogant but I don't think the show should be axed (I do but not for this reason). The people who go on it know exactly what they are getting into and are also paid for being on there, they want their cheap 15 minutes of fame. I actually thought for years that the participants were actors acting out scenarios but obviously not. This guy obviously had underlying problems, people who commit suicide usually have longer term difficulties and don't do this overnight. He agreed to go on it - he didn't have to. He knew, presumably, what he was getting into. He knew he would be asked to do a lie detector test, what did he think the outcome would be if he WAS lying? Lie detectors are NOT 100% accurate but they are a very good indicator (I believe the accuracy is in the 90s percentage wise). I do not believe this guy killed himself because of the show, it may have been part of the overall problem but in itself it is highly unlikely I think.
In summary:
Do I think the show should be axed? Yes - because it's sh!te.
Do I think that it should be axed because of this particular incident? No - people are free to watch it or not and participants are free to take part or not and they know full well what's in store if they do.
