Worst song at Turf Moor.

Post by tim_noone » Tue May 14, 2019 9:50 pm

It's got to be the most distasteful song at turf moor since the sixties rendition of "Harry Roberts is our Friend" belted it out nice and Loud Sunday and under the concourse at Goodison. I could understand abuse aimed at the former Blackpool owners who had got their hands in the Till and treated the Fans appallingly...But this Guy was a Fan of his Club. The song Stinks and leaves a sour taste.imo

For me it’ll be that time in the mid 90s they played Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Deep Blue Something on the PA.

terrible when you consider it, fans really did sing about Aberfan, a genuine disaster where countless children died.
and football fans like to think themselves solid valued, working class lads.

That one's a head scratcher. Go back in two weeks to whatever away ground we sing that at. The opposition fans will be there again. We won't. So it's us who's only there because of Burnley. Not them.

It’s no wonder we’ve always had a problem with Cardiff. I can remember them frothing at the mouth on the Longside divide when this was sung. Some songs seemed perfectly acceptable when in fact they were totally unacceptable.

Apart from those about Simon Garner.

'You wot, you wot, you wot you wot you wot'

Both songs about Jack Walker are embarrassing

Dwight Mcneil isn't one of our own

'you're ******* sh!t' when it's 1-0 after 15mins

Shouting handball for ten minutes after the opposition has a claim for it.

Conversely I'm not that bothered about the tits fanny and clarets song. Or the in our Lancashire home one (I know it's a Scouse song but have never heard them sing it so there's no connection for me)

We really do have a whole heap of self-loathing and doubt amongst the folk who post on here. They criticise if the crowd don’t sing, and then knock them for the things they do sing. I’m surprised that the usual go-to in these debates hasn’t yet been brought up; tempo.
Anyone expecting a sustained level of wit and intelligence from a mob of people singing together may as well plough the sea.

Always a strange one when you see people whinge about songs not being accurate.

Or when Torquay United sing "we're by far the greatest the team the world has ever seen" do they think the people singing it believe it. If the current crop of songs bug someone that much easiest thing to do is come up with new ones, you have all summer to get it off the ground.

It’s an awful song. Whenever I hear people “sing” it I think about how they would feel if their family member “had a heart attack”. Would they be singing it then?

True. I find it hard to believe Blackburn managers are always asking Burnley fans to play for them and that all offers are turned down.

The JWID song has changed for me over time. When our fans first began singing it I saw it more as a ‘The King is Dead, Long Live the King’ kind of thing, but laughing at their current shambllic owners.

Over the years it’s become more hatred towards Jack Walker as the numbskull element, who couldn’t think up a song it their life depended on it, have taken ownership of it.

It’s not good now at all.
