some promising signs already for next season

Post by s6t9a2f3f » Thu May 16, 2019 2:15 pm

3 teams being promoted that we have every chance of finishing above.

Newcastle possibly without Rafa

Palace looks like without Zaha

Brighton ? depends on how new manager does

All sounding ok so far..................................................

Norwich and Sheffield United up also good news. Not likely to be big spenders, already overachieving, etc.

We will finish 13th. Fact.

I said fact at the end, so it's set in stone and you cannot argue with me.

5 poorest teams in Division will be us, Brighton and the three promoted teams. There will also be a couple of other teams that struggle like Southampton this season. Success for us is keeping the three promoted teams and Brighton below us and doing better than one of the teams that struggle

Progression for me is being able to play a less restrictive style of football and having a good go at the cups without struggling to keep 4 or 5 teams below us

If Bournemouth struggle to score goals - they'll be relegation candidates.

That's not going to happen Damo!!!!!

Foshiznik has already said where we are finishing. I want to disagree and state that he I think we will finish 5 places higher than that but he has already FACTED it.

I think we will be fine next season. The players will have a full rest after this season and with no Europa league disturbing pre season I think we will be raring to go. Id fancy our chances finishing above Bournemouth as well.

I know it seems unlikely right now, but "second season syndrome" does have some basis in fact and Wolves could be very vulnerable to it.

That's ridiculous. What makes you think that we'll finish below Derby County?

If Norwich can keep their side intact and add a goalkeeper, they ought to do a little better than Cardiff this season and are way better than Fulham were.

Bournemouth, stupidly in my view, get called out every season as relegation fodder. They’ll be fine again next season.

The day I go into a season thinking that promising signs are measured by how poor other teams may be, and if we can just finish outside the relegation zone, is the day I pack it all in.

This, they recruit well and new players always step up to the plate when called upon. Even If Frazer/Wilson go it will just become Brooks/King etc

To rely on the vagaries of others in the Prem is totally unreliable.

The only way to stay up is to batter as many teams as we can home and away whoever they might be.

We can only get better on the shots faced and shots taken count. We finished highest and lowest respectively.

A beast of a central midfielder will sort it.

I don't think our Eddie recruits that well, for every Brooks you have a Solanki, over reliance on players that have been there for years and are coming to the end of their careers.
I can see someone going for Brooks, Wilson, Ake and a keeper crisis, I can see them struggling.

Solanki has only been there 6 months and has had injury's. How many games did the likes of Tarks, Ward, Westwood and Taylor make for in their first 6 months or even 12 months for us cos im pretty sure we don't criticise these signings as bad ones?

I very rarely criticise players until they have a good run in the team, all the players you've mentioned have played extremely well when they have got a foothold in the team, can you give a reason not to criticse solanki, not done well anywhere, not justified any move he has had, just because your in a top youth team it doesn't make you a good player.

If they sell Brooks, Wilson and Ake they're going to have well over a hundred million to spend which would probably help them for the next season (with the obvious Fulham caveat).

I think 6 months is a little to early to call him a flop and I gave you some really good examples of Burnley players you would be labelling a flop sticking by your same logic.

Bournemouth have some great strikers and attacking players so new signings will need to bide their time. Burnley are very much like that for defenders where we have seen Keane, Ward, Tarks, Taylor and currently Gibson all need to be patient cos its a squad game and if the first team are playing well then its tough luck
