Tom Heaton in Nations League squad

Post by ClaretTony » Mon May 27, 2019 8:50 pm

Gareth Southgate has named his final 23 for the Nations League and Tom has made the cut. Former Claret Michael Keane is in but Kieran Trippier is one of the players left out.

Harsh on trippier. Key player last year and still a top player with great crossing.
But after a long time with limited options there its arguably now our strongest position.

Always felt walker was better. But the emergence or Arnold and possibly even Wan Bissaka and others means he may be limited in chances now. Especially if he moves to Napoli. Which shouldnt hinder him. But it will.

Bit harsh on Trippier after the world cup he had but Walker and TAA have been far better than him this season.

It's crazy that Trippier is out when he will be in the starting 11 for a champions league final on Sunday, meanwhile spice boys Rashford and Lingard's performances for their club have been absolutely dire for months now and should be no where near the squad.

The holiday will do Trippier good. He's been playing non-stop for nearly 2 years. Give the guy a break.

Couldn't disagree more, I think it's been excellent.

I'm pleased for Heats, and selfishly pleased no out field players are involved. I was hoping that given the early start to last season, everyone would get a well deserved break and return fresh.
Dwights involvement may mean Brady's chance will come early next season, as the young lad is carefully managed to ensure he's not burned out too soon and returns only when fully ready.
