New pans - any advice
Re: New pans - any advice
Just reporting back that we bought some induction pans today from Boundary Mill. We didn't go for the top of the range due to the expense so we're hoping the cheaper ones will still do the job. They have a really good sale on, also obtained extra discount for being a privelaged member. Can't try them until the kitchen goes in, hopefully starting Monday.

Hope you're going to get some decent cooking underway in the new pans & not just warming up beans.

Re: New pans - any advice
I thought I should add to this thread to show that I don't just ask for advice and then ignore it. I opted for Circulon eventually and I've been pleased with them so far.

Setting a good example there. I think twice about replying to "where can I buy", "fix my car", "does anyone know" threads nowadays because a lot of people come on here and ask a question then disappear into the ether.

I might not always respond, although I should, but I value the advice I receive on this board. It started last year when I needed a roofer and I'm now looking at the advice for blinds. I've not been disappointed with any of the advice I've acted on.Hendrickxz wrote:Setting a good example there. Re: New pans - any advice
Well, on the subject of blinds, we used Pendle Blinds who despite their name are actually based in a parade of shops up ightenhill. They do all kinds, come and measure up, let you choose the type of blinds and material while offering expert advice, then come back a couple of weeks later to fit them. Really nice couple and good value compared with others we got quotes from. Quality is very good too. I think this is another area where you gets what you pays for. A neighbour had a another outfit supply and fit his but the quality was not up to scratch. We also had a quote from another local company who were over twice the price of the ones we settled on from Pendle. Quotes are usually free so it's worth checking a couple or three out for comparison.
Re: New pans - any advice
CT. we always try to use local firms for blinds etc but after finishing the kitchen and living room we found them so expensive. We decided to try some on line so we ordered a couple, they tell you how to provide the correct measurements and details how to fit them, anyway, they arrived with full instructions. Having fitted them I can't tell any difference from the local firms, they were less that half the price of our quotes. If you're not so good at fitting them I'm sure a friend would help you out, it only requires a drill and a screw driver. We're in the process of ordering some more. They are called 247blinds.co.uk.

We eat off plates at our house.ClaretTony wrote:I think had the old pans been of use I'd still have been looking for new ones to be honest. The ones I have are old but have served me well over the years.

Re: New pans - any advice
I was in Shackletons garden centre a couple of weeks ago and in the kitchen section they had a set of NEFF induction pans reduced to £50. Absolute bargain. I believe these were given away free on a previous NEFF offer so they will just be selling off remaining stock.ClaretTony wrote:There have been a lot of threads over the years from posters asking advice from holiday destinations to tradesmen etc. but this might be a first.
I'm having a kitchen refit and have gone with an induction hob which means all but one of my pans is now redundant. I've been looking for new ones but it is a bit of a minefield in terms of those suitable with prices ranging from very low to considerably high.
Has anyone bought any recently? Can anyone offer any recommendations?
Re: New pans - any advice
We're now looking for a new frying pan, induction hob. I've read all the posts and am steering towards the Circulon, however, for those who have them do you recommend the total stainless steel or the momentum hard anodised, also would one be much heavier than the other. That's in advance.

Re: New pans - any advice
I got a set of Circulon pans plus one or two extras as recommended by aggi on this thread. They are the Infinite hard adonised range.
I’ve not regretted it. Had them close to two years now.

Re: New pans - any advice
No specific advice about induction pans, but I can tell you from experience that any pan or pan lid with a handle that is screwed on, will wobble and eventually break. I would always get pans with riveted handles.

we have bought these

Think they are great pans for the cost - we came across them on offer at Sainsburys of all places.

Just tell yer missus to buy whatever she wants, but not to ask irrelevant questions when’t footy’s on’telly.
Re: New pans - any advice
I do a lot of cooking and I can't recommend copper bottomed pans highly enough. Even temperature across all of the pan and still look new after 8 years of use.

My grandad worked at Prestige in Burnley for too many years, so I bought some of those pans recently as a nod to him. They work..

When we replaced our kitchen last December and got an Induction Hob, we replaced our Stellar Pans with Stellar Pans (induction friendly ) cracking kit ...
