Nice and local, gives a few of our younger fans no doubt a chance to tick off a ground or 2.

Tinpot & awful. Surely we can muster up something better than the same dross we have been playing for years. This is the reason we will never be big because we have a small team mentality.

Disappointing to be playing these kind of clubs again.typical Dyche meat and 2 veg mentality though.
Why not a nice tour somewhere semi exotic? Get our team and brand out into a wider audience.

Re: ARTICLE: Burnley to play six games in a more conventional pre-season
Can't recall us having previously played either Crewe or Port Vale in pre-season and I reckon it could be thirty years since we last played Wigan in pre-season. Only ever once played Fleetwood. We've two home games to follow against European clubs. No problem with it and it is all about preparing the players, fitness wise, for the new season.JimMcDonald wrote:Tinpot & awful. Not bothered with pre season games for over 20 years as they are just glorified kick abouts and should all be free to watch

Moaning about the opposition in a friendly you have no interest in attending is very modern day Burnley fan

What happened about Barton and the assault on the Barnsley manager?
Re: ARTICLE: Burnley to play six games in a more conventional pre-season
Same here, Fylde would have been nice, ( even Salford ).ClaretTony wrote:No ground ticks for me unfortunately, was hoping for AFC Fylde possibly but not to be.
This ground ticking lark hasn't been too easy since Mr Dyche decided to work his magic.
It's getting to the stage where I'm lucky to even tick off 1 a season.

Not heard a thing. The police spoke to him, Barton issued a statement dismissing all allegations and I've not seen anything since.Tall Paul wrote:What happened about Barton and the assault on the Barnsley manager?

What a dull pre-season.
Brilliant.
Players and staff can focus on fitness and getting everybody ready for the start of the season.

We went in the chippy a few years ago when we went for the Premier League Cup game - they were poor.CaptJohn wrote:It's nice and close for me too living in Chester. My Uncle used to own the "Gresty Road Chippy" many years ago and my cousin still lives on Gresty Road.

Go on then I'll pay a long overdue visit to the DW. Also take in Fleetwood if it looks a good night. Overall I'm not too much into friendlies and testimonials.

Not very inspiring locations - anyone would think these games are for the benefit of the players rather than the fans

yeah you are right, we should blow our transfer budget on paying Real Madrid to turn up, followed by a whole host of top European teams so we can go into the season exhausted from chasing the ball around and with zero confidence, makes perfect senseJimMcDonald wrote:Tinpot & awful. Was it Real Madrid that Bournemouth played two or three years ago and charged fans around £50 per ticket to coverVegas Claret wrote:yeah you are right, we should blow our transfer budget on paying Real Madrid to turn up, followed by a whole host of top European teams so we can go into the season exhausted from chasing the ball around and with zero confidence, makes perfect sense

yes it was and on top of that and they got battered 0-6 , I don't see a single reason to play any of these massive teams tbhClaretTony wrote:Was it Real Madrid that Bournemouth played two or three years ago and charged fans around £50 per ticket to cover

Re: ARTICLE: Burnley to play six games in a more conventional pre-season
I did ask because I wasn’t sure who the opponents were. I have looked it up now and it was Real Madrid. Was also six years ago. Ronaldo got a hat trick in a 6-0 win.

Re: ARTICLE: Burnley to play six games in a more conventional pre-season
They still go on about that Real Madrid game down here. For many it's the highlight of their football lives. I say 'But you got beat 6-0 and paid £50 for the privilege!' But they don't care, they got to see Ronaldo.
I suppose that's what it's like when you support a club with no history.

Who the **** gets involved with the arrangements. We are a premier league team. Playing tinpot local teams doesnt get us in premier league shape. We should be attracting a foreign base of teams and have an away friendly trip. Why not play teams in portugal?

Friendlies are the absolute worst. If we lined up Barcelona i’d save my cash for Doncaster away in the League Cup instead.
Any game without pressure is a training session. Haven’t been to one since Jimmy Holland’s testimonial and that was a load of toss too.
