None of the players from posts #2 #3 & #4 would get anywhere near our current first eleven.

Footballers was nowhere near as good back then.

I didn’t see the 60s side but know that is nonsense.

They were excellent. Although there were so many BFC players of that era who anyone might choose.
How could anyone think they were not at the top of the professional game at the time?

Changes in health + fitness, diet, training regimes mean that it is difficult but you should choose who you feel was the most outstanding in their position. I must first say that it is a difficult choice in most positions, but I will choose the players that got me ‘out of my seat’ the most often with instances of excellence.

John Angus
James Tarkowski
Dave Thomas
Peter Noble
Willie Irvine

Difficult to really judge when so few of us can look back much before WW2, but based on reputation and stats Tommy Boyle, George Beel, Jimmy Adamson and Jimmy Mac would be dead certs.
You'd probably have to say McDonald in goal so we're just looking for a fullback.

Obviously, but their talent being nurtured and developed as it is in the modern game... They'd be even better

Without doubt Boyle, Adamson and Mac.

Full-back impossible to split John Angus and Keith Newton, both majestic on their day.

Best keeper I saw was Colin McDonald but Jerry Dawson's 569 record appearances would just shade it.

George Beel scored more goals than Willie Irvine but Irvine had a better goals/games ratio.

Dawson
Newton/Angus
Boyle
Adamson
McIlroy
Irvine.

Can only understand shouts for Little if we're being purely sentimental. At the end of the day, we've had wingers who have starred at a much higher level of the game than him. And that includes one that still plays for us.

Are we basing on how well they did at Burnley, or their career overall? Surely Gazza worth a shout if the latter (for his wasted potential if nothing else). Ian Wright too.
