Only 7 posts to get Marquee Moon, not bad.

Surprised either Boston or Frampton haven't appeared considering the obvious demographic.

Someone's said above " an album you listen to all the way through without skipping tracks" and although I rarely dig it out I always think Jesus I enjoyed that afterwards.

Similarly, Teardrop Explodes Kilimanjaro

Not one I’d have expected on here but a superb album. Saw them supporting Huey Lewis & The News at the Apollo. They were excellent.

As others suggest tomorrow this could be totally different - but Argus would still be there.
I think The Division Bell is Floyd,s best ....very underrated album.

Didn't realise that was a B-side. Most of today's bands would give their right arm to write a song so good.

A fine song indeed. A 3 part harmony with Mr Lennon at his melancholy best.

100%. Peak Lennon.

Both my names sakes are at their best too. Ringo's drumming is fabulous he's all over that kit. and McCartneys bass line is majestic.

Live at the counter Eurovision 79 - Misty in Roots

When I gave mine a few days ago I didn't really consider anything too modern because , I mean, to be Classic you have to stand the test of time right?

Such an incredibly pleasurable post.

Youve got The Strokes on here (probably a check mark) Stone Roses (check mark) which in their own way broke ground.

So I was thinking about other stuff that might count. Sinead's Lion and the Cobra? The Killers first album? Martin L Gore's Counterfeit? Ride. Literally any of the Cocteaus early EPs that got combined into an album? Almost all Dead Can Dances albums. Misfits albums. Durutti Column albums.

And then there's all the newer stuff we personally think will be classic? Zola Jesus Stridulum. Tr/st. Weeknight. Literally anything by anyone in this new darkwave genre.

Music, eh? Bloody hell.

A friend of mine had a spare ticket for their gig at Gorilla, manchester in April. I had to turn it down due to family commitments. Gutted, so got the tickets for the Ritz back then. Managed to get a 1st edition copy of Dogrel on yellow vinyl , which has sold out now. It's a copy the band signed on record store day. They're currently going for £50 on Ebay.

For anybody interested, it's 40 years since Joy Division released Unknown Pleasures on Factory records.

Mary Anne Hobbs is doing an indepth look at the making of the album on her Radio 6 show this coming Friday

It was recorded on equipment made by "AMS of Burnley, Lancashire, England" as Tony Wilson said !

I'm amazed there are no soul albums other than Whats Going On and Chartbusters 3. Where's Otis Blue, Aretha, Ben E King, James Brown and almost unbelievable, not one of Stevie Wonder's albums are included.
Earth Wind and Fire, Luther Vandross, Sam Cooke, Michael Jackson...bit surprised to say the least.
