Leeds move for Vydra
I knew this was going to happen and posted it a few times. Let's hope he doesn't move. We'll regret it.

Now, now Factual, time to get your facts right.
It says Leeds are set to make a move for Vydra.

The bottom of your article/story asks if Leeds have the money to purchase him. My thoughts exactly.

It does. But I know a bid has gone in. FACT!2 Bee Holed wrote:Now, now Factual, time to get your facts right.

It's the most accurate article so far, but they have made an official bid. It's not £10 million either, but just highlighting they want him. I hope we turn it down and keep him. 3 omelettes - people knocking him, will be back in 6 months saying we should have kept him, if we do accept it.

Frank, I hear £6 million bid gone in he'll be top scorer in the Championship if we sell and Leeds will be promoted. Stick a premium on as like Steve says it's leeds! Dont sell!

Why sell him at a loss, with the inflated prices of today, and he's a proven Championship goal scorer ....the fee has to be higher than we paid for him...madness if we sell at a loss

It's not from Lancs Live, Tony. Give me a bit of credit. I'd normally say I hope it's wrong, but all I can hope for is we turn it down. I too hope we turn it down.
I also hope he gets more game time this season, but of course that depends on the form of Barnes, and maybe the inclusion of that quality CM we need.

Leeds don’t have the money to pay what we want, unless they strike some weird deal with the Qatari’s.

Re: Leeds move for Vydra
It looks to me like SD rates Jay more than Vydra, so he'll see it as pretty much a swap in terms of finance. I disagree, but he's the one who's on 70k a week. I think Vydra is better than Jay Rod and it's not just that - selling him to Leeds is pretty much guaranteeing promotion for them. Dragon's Den would all say no.bobinho wrote:I too hope we turn it down.

Well for a start, it's obviously my opinion, but they were the best footballing side last season. How they didn't get promoted is beyond me. A massive failure.randomclaret2 wrote:How is selling Vydra to Leeds pretty much guaranteeing promotion for them ?
And what they did was create chances that they couldn't finish. He's the missing piece in their puzzle.

7/8 million with a 5 million add on subject to promotion, plus first dibs on any of their kids we fancy

It's weird. I heard that Leeds were not impressed by him when they interviewed him and we're certainly not going to bow to his pay demands. Perhaps they've had a re think.

Re: Leeds move for Vydra
To me, this depends if SD is planning to bring in another forward (I doubt it, priority will be midfield and defence.)
Then Vydra can go if the price is right.
The bottom line is I can only see him sat on his arse again.

It could be getting put out there to speed up a decision process of any potential swap deals including Vydra.

Re: Leeds move for Vydra
Vydra showed glimpses of promise to me, but in his (admittedly brief) appearances for us I'm not sure there was too much evidence to suggest he's likely to become a success at this level. At 27, the combination of all his experiences at this level don't provide any real encouragement to the contrary.
If Dyche thinks he's worth persevering with, then fair enough, but equally if he decides to cash in, I don't think anyone can credibly argue. It was a decent enough signing as plan B when Rodriguez didn't come off last summer, but was always a bit of a gamble and no-one should be too critical if isn't to work out.
Certainly, you'd imagine that wages allowing he'd be an attractive proposition to plenty of championship clubs this summer and it's easy to imagine he might be a handy makeweight in any number of potential deals we might be looking to do at that level.
As for the comparison with Rodriguez - one has a proven record at Premier League level, and it isn't Vydra.

Yep, and I didn't say you couldn't argue it or that the topic should be banned, or indeed that people weren't entitled to have differing opinions on Vydra's worth.
I just said that if (and it's still an if) Dyche - having worked closely with him for a year - has decided that the best thing to do is to sell him, then (in my opinion) it'd be very difficult to credibly argue that Sean Dyche is wrong about that, given the evidence available.

No - what you did is what you often do. You tried to look down on people. It doesn't work with me. You included the word 'credibly'. This is your way of having a dig and basically saying not to have an opinion unless it's someone you give credit to. Probably, a dig at me.claretspice wrote:Yep, and I didn't say you couldn't argue it or that the topic should be banned, or indeed that people weren't entitled to have differing opinions on Vydra's worth.

And for what it's worth - if we sell him, I argue that we shouldn't sell him. Many things SD has done and decisions he's made, us fans will argue against. And you know what? Many of those times we'll be correct. He's a good manager, but he's not perfect.
