What absolute ****.
My great grandfather is buried over that way, near the war graves. An ex army sergent. He is in Bingley though so hopefully unaffected. Was only over there last week.

Thanks for the tip JM,i'll check them out later on,my old man will be fascinated no doubt, the fact that many photographs from both World Wars are now being colourised, brings the conflicts more to life than some grainy black and white footage ever could.

Bumping this because I've been sent a pic of my grandads medals from WWII.
Can anyone help with identifying?

Not bickering, just genuinely curious.
Come on, Healeywood, it can't be that difficult.

What are the words on the medals, CandJ?
I know there were words on my Dad's medals - which I think one of his grandchildren are now looking after.

Just leave this thread for saluting heroes.
I will delete this shortly as I don't want to join in bickering on here.

Mr Mac
I was looking at Claret & Jew's post and came across this:
Your France and Germany Star ribbon looks remarkably like the Conspicuous Gallantry Medal
ribbon which only came to force in the mid-1990's.

C and J
The Stars all have words telling you where he served.
Judging by how he got around, I can only think he was in the RAF.
I assume I am correct? The colours on the ribbons seem to have faded, or is it your photo?
Given that originally you could not wear more than 5 stars, he virtually has them all!

I know someone who won the CGC and it looks like it has been mounted using the incorrect ribbon.
I will get it remounted, thanks for this.

Hi mate.
It's not my pic it's from my aunt who has them. I've never seen them physically.
He was in the navy as far as I've been told.
