I feel sad for Andre Bikey, he could do easily have been the best, pity his head wasn't

There is a clear leader. However, 2nd place is a player who made errors, during his 'learning', which was all with us. My 2nd vote went to a proven stalwart, who is also proving a popular choice.

At least one (former?) poster would be disappointed not to see him on the "midfielders" list.

Some genuine quality to choose from there, an area of strength in our recent sides.

On the basis that this is the best players, I went with the two players who have represented our country whilst playing for Burnley.

Duff and Mee for me, two of my all time favourite players, always guaranteed 100%, not the most gifted, just no nonsense the longevity of the two speaks volumes.

Apparently on his day, Andre Bikey was the best centre half in the championship. Claret Spice said he was the most athletic player he'd ever seen.

He had a backside bigger than Rusty Lee and his day was Thursday. Cost us a parachute payment and his best game for burnley on the Turf was for reading. Oh how the fans used to gasp and applaud his 60 yard balls that used to bounce off the Bob lord stand wall.

It says a lot when Shackel, who captained us to an amazing, unlikely promotion and scored TWICE at Ewood, doesn't get a look in.

I voted for Shackell for that season alone, but to be honest that was in the Championship so I probably shouldn’t have done. He was immense that year though.

Ben Mee obviously

Then a toss up between Tarky and Keane. Went for Tarky in the end as he has been excellent for a longer period in the prem

Shackell doesn't get the credit he deserves because of the way he left, but people conveniently forget Ben Mee spent all last summer angling for a move away.

Shackell is akin to Coyle. Did really well for us when he was here but because some didn't agree with the way he left they've tried to gloss over how good he was for us at the time.

Don’t think it helped that club staff made comments about it being a happier dressing with him gone. Having said that, his best spell for us was in the Championship.

Shackell was a great player for us. Think you have to take into account the season he had in the Prem we were let's be fair, a pretty poor outfit by Prem standards. The likes of Duff, Jones, Boyd and Arfield were all regular starters. Mee, Keane and Tarkowski have been fortunate enough to play in better teams with much better midfields in front of them.

There were obvious correct answers in the first 3 polls (as was the outcome), but this one isn't as easy.

We all know that it is Ben and one other.

I went for Duff out of sentiment and coming in to the team when not playing regularly, and being for the most part dependable.

Michael Keane for me; big game player that scored some vital goals for us at key times...

Bikey I feel could have been the fest, I'd like to think if he played under Dyche and kept on the straight and narrow he'd have been an absolute colossus!

https://youtu.be/JOXRZ9HLSKI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

One of my favourite goals I've seen at the Turf

That made me laugh !
He was good for Reading that's correct.
For Burnley he was awful - his positional sense and lack of concentration was unbelievably poor. His attitude wasn't much better either.
Think it was Portsmouth away when I am sure we would have genuinely looked more solid with Rusty Lee playing instead of Bikey.

It is another myth that the stupid take as gospel he was trying to get out the club, that is why we signed Gibson due to Mee leaving. It is also why we signed Wells & Vydra due to Barnes & Wood wanting out and why we signed Hart due to Heaton & Pope wanting out. Think that is how it works on here with some. :D
