Ings completes Saints move

Post by Quickenthetempo » Mon Jul 01, 2019 4:43 pm

18m plus a further 2m in add ons available.

Should put 2.5m in the Claret coffers.

If it is £18m then we will get 20% of £11.5m.

2.3m then expecting at least 1m of the add ons to come through.

Hopefully appearances based and not Saints to get champions league etc.

Certainly a better deal for us than had Danny got his own way

I wouldn't place any hopes on appearances if his knees start playing up again.

Ings is a cracking footballer...if he stays fit,I don't think Southampton will be in any relegation trouble next season

A lot of clubs who I expect to rival us for relegation are spending some big money already.

Not been that impressed by any of them yet.
Ings is a good player but I’ll be surprised if he plays more than 25 games.

Maybe this unexpected windfall will mean the club can knock 1p of the price of a cup of tea ( or a twix for that matter).

£18-20m on a striker that has scored 10 goals since 2015

That was the gamble they took last summer. Not sure it will price to be the best value for money they’ve spent, although better than Wayne Thomas!

How many did he get last season? Didn't really pick up whether he was popular or not down there either

8 goals in 25 appearances.
Next season will depend on if Che Adams is a good strike partner for him I suppose.

He seemed to be their main man at the start of the season and was very influential in the games I saw.
Then he started picking up injuries and every time he returned he seemed to pick up another injury after a few games so another real stop and start season but at least he did not seem to have another serious injury.

As far as I was aware Southampton had already committed
last year to buy him at the end of the loan period. When you see Klopp’s interview about Ings at the start of last season it was definitely a goodbye and thanks speech and there was no indication there was ever any option for him to return to Liverpool.

Maybe the Ing's windfall will be utilised in providing sufficient hot water in the toilets !!!
Health and safety and all that.

Wishful thinking I know, but we live in hope - ever the eternal optimist.

Showed that he still has pace but giggling injuries often follow long lay offs as we ourselves have found. If he can stay fit he’s worth every penny.
