Overrated....and very overpriced, although I hope City scupper United's attempt to replace Jones.beddie wrote:Man U have upped their bid to £70m ahead of Man City. Your move City.

If they start with those 3 and say Mendy as left back then they can forget about winning the Champions League.FactualFrank wrote:Man City could have Walker Maguire and Stones.
Presumably Stones is now out of the picture as first choice as he will be looking at Laporte and Maguire....which to be honest looks pretty slow to me. Liverpool`s centre back pairing on Van Dyke and a fit Gomez is far far stronger.
Maguire costing as much as Van Dyke - ouch !!

Not so sure about that. It’s his pace alone which makes him remotely competent.BurnleyFC wrote:Kyle Walker is a terrific player.

Re: Maguire
Couldn't disagree more....gives the ball away far too much, has moments where he just bombs out of position and has he ever put a decent cross in?...he is lucky to have the pace he does so he is able to recover...definitely the weak link for City and EnglandBurnleyFC wrote:Kyle Walker is a terrific player.

Seeing as we all know Stones wasn't worth what they paid, could they move him to CDM?TVC15 wrote:If they start with those 3 and say Mendy as left back then they can forget about winning the Champions League.

He's played there a couple of times for City I think and they need a replacement for Fernandinho
Re: Maguire
Can't believe City are after Maguire. He often looks laboured and clumsy. When he sticks to the basics he's a decent centre half but there's no way he'd fit into a Guardiola team.
If I was LCFC I'd be biting their hand off at £70m.

To be fair, £70m only works out at 80p per square inch of forehead.

Re: Maguire
Every year I think the transfer fees have peaked, and every year I'm proved wrong. The prices being banded about preseason, particularly that palace fullback to man United is mental. It certainly makes things harder for us, suddenly 10 million pound players are 20 million after a few daft signings.

Re: Maguire
If he does go, it will trigger a chain that might involve Tarky leaving. There's not too many top CBs out there, hence £70m being the market.

Re: Maguire
Maguire is just a bog standard old centre half. He pops up with a few goals... I might find my boots, I can be as mobile as that for 90minutes a couple of times of week for that no problem.

You'd think for £70 million you would get a world class player!elwaclaret wrote:Maguire is just a bog standard old centre half. He pops up with a few goals... I might find my boots, I can be as mobile as that for 90minutes a couple of times of week for that no problem.

Re: Maguire
You’d have to think football had gone a little out that they can’t buy the club for that... give me Colin Waldron, Jim Thomson, Micky Phelen, even big Vinny in his pomp, you’d be upgrading on Maguire I would have thought. At least there fouls would have been worth watchingSpijed wrote:You'd think for £70 million you would get a world class player!

Re: Maguire
Insane.
I get pi$$ed off at our business or lack of at times. And then things like this happen.
The crazy thing is, I can't see how he improves City. Unless they are playing a game to increase the cost for United?

Completely overrated IMO. No Rio, and not sure he's an upgrade on what United already have.

I think they played the same game over Sanchez when he was leaving Arsenal and that worked out pretty well for City.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Insane.
