Some of you negative twonks should just step back and take a look at the big picture of Burnley FC - it makes for pretty good viewing.

The thing that people don't seem to take into account, when they put forward the " haven't we done well " argument, is that teams change. We have done well in previous windows and overall our recrtuitment activities have been acceptable given our circumstances.
However, the recruitment team we have now is not the recruitment team that was responsible for bringing in all the players that are being used to as evidence to substantiate achievement. It's like reading a newspaper from three years ago to get a good account of what is happening today.
Our performance in terms of our recruitment has got worse in recent years. I'm not blaming Martin Hodge, because he was brought to the club to do a different job than recruitment. He has simply stepped up to the plate and done his best, even though it isn't his specialist area ( he is sort of like the Hendrick of the recruitment team ).
That being said, we have just brought in Rigg and we have given him the power to affect things and the investment to make things happen. We didn't throw him under the bus in the last window, but he has had more than enough time to bed in and plan an effective strategy for this window.
We still have quite a lot of time left on the clock for this window, but If all of that new investment doesn't translate into a noticable improvement in our recruitment, or we experience another poor window, I think it is fair to ask questions about whether we need to go back to the drawing board and set about making additional changes sooner rather than later.
