How many actual Burnley games have you actually seen?
Not that you missed Colchester away '84 or Luton home in 94 because your Uncle Brian robbed your season ticket.
I mean literally how many have you seen?
100?
1000?
2000?
Also, if you dare, can you calculate what it has cost you?

Frightening to think how much it’s cost me and I don’t know how many I’ve been to.
What I do know is my first game was in October 1960 and I’ve only missed 8 home games since.

Re: How many actual Burnley games have you actually seen?
In 68 seasons it msut be quite a lot!
As far as money is concerned, I have not lived nearer than 100 miles from the Turf since 1966 and in the late 60 and early 70s used to travel from Germany during an 8 year period. In the late 70s and 80s I used to travel up from London area and since 1988 I have had a 300 mile round trip to go to home matches.
I still have a season ticket and enjoy going to the games but I think that VAR will kill my interest off so this will probably be my last season.
All that matters to me is that the Club continues but it is getting more difficult these days, particularly if we drop out of the PL which will happen eventually. Enjoy it while you can ---I do!!

I’ve been going on the Turf 44 years now and although I don’t manage many away games these days I’ve had season tickets for probably about 40 of those 44 years. So it’s certainly 1000+

All I know is that I went to more games between 1979 and 1989 than I have between 2009 and 2019.
It's a little bit sad but they were better days out.

What would be the average cost of a ticket from when I first went on t'Turf 50 years ago to now? £10? £15? I ask because I reckon somebody who loves statistics about suchlike will know the answer. Then I can have a go at working it out.

A Ground Adult season ticket in 1975/76 was £10.50 before 30th June and £12.50 after that date.Im_not_Robbie_Blake wrote:What would be the average cost of a ticket from when I first went on t'Turf 50 years ago to now? £10? £15? Getting old, yes.tim_noone wrote:Maybe your getting old and miserable.....
The last time I was miserable (football context) was travelling to and from Wembley for the Play Off final. The match and being there was brilliant though.
I don't do away games now that are further than an hour and a half/ two hours away, unless it's a full weekend job.

I wasn’t aware they did that back then but given match admission was only 50p per game then it was more expensive to buy a season ticket after June if that’s correct.Royboyclaret wrote:A Ground Adult season ticket in 1975/76 was £10.50 before 30th June and £12.50 after that date.

Thinking about it that was probably my 19th or 20th season ticket.

It’s weird how you remember certain things but ground admission was 40p in 1973/74 and then went up to 50p to cover some new tax they called VAT.Royboyclaret wrote:That's what it says in the little green season ticket I've just found at the back of the drawer.

Re: How many actual Burnley games have you actually seen?
I have no idea on the actual figure, but over 30+ years I’ve had circa 18 season tickets, so barely missed a home league game in those 18 seasons, but always made at least a dozen in the other seasons, sometimes almost all games. Add in 5-15 away games most seasons.
I’d say about 800 games, and maybe £15,000 in today’s money on tickets (a few were concession season tickets and match tickets)? I have no idea what it would be with the entire cost of the day.

Re: How many actual Burnley games have you actually seen?
The only real time I have baulked at the cost of going to football was when I had to pay for my own meal at a service station once, on the way to Hull on a supporters coach.
I was only 14 and it was £2 entrance for juniors at the game.
But it was £6.50 for Chicken and Chips. I nearly cried.

Re cost 8/- for train 2/- for dinner and 5/- to go on.
1963 price
Now our JHU ticket costa£250 travel £100 and another £80 accomadation.
We do less away games due to standing fans spoiling our view but every home match is a 500mile round trip.
We still look forward to going on .Every new season is greeted with anticipation.Gone to games home and away since 1963 so its a lot.

Re: How many actual Burnley games have you actually seen?
My good friend Woodley has been to far more than me but I reckon I must have been to at least 700. I guess the cost is substantial as a round trip to a home game is a return journey of some 150 miles but that pales into insignificance with the cost of air travel, as I have travelled from as far away as Africa for some matches.

Re: How many actual Burnley games have you actually seen?
As we moved to Kent in 1968 when I was 6 I haven’t seen nearly enough. Most of my games have been at the lesser grounds such as Barnet, Brentford, Maidstone, Orient, Gillingham (home game), Colchester, Southend so to see the Clarets actually reach the Premier League and stay there is truly amazing. Seen the team play at all the bigger London clubs and also remember going to the old Valley which was an incredible ground.

Re: How many actual Burnley games have you actually seen?
Started watching in 70/71 season, just after my 9 Th birthday. On that birthday I was given a file for a present. I used it to write down the games I’d been to. I religiously did this for every game up to emigrating to Australia in 2010.
This is the file, and first page written 49 years ago.
My record, I’ve seen us;
Played. 1423
Won. 566
Drew. 359
Lost. 491
For. 1909
Against. 1874
Turf Moor. 930
Away. 503
Edit: just realised the won, drew, lost doesn’t add up. 7 games discrepancy.

No idea why I put 3000. It is clearly wrong. I think I have only missed about 20 home games since 1959 almost all due to illness. Away games much less so total around 1500.Royboyclaret wrote:60 years averaging 50 games a season, that's some going summitclaret. Fair play to you, it's certainly more than I've clocked up.

Re: How many actual Burnley games have you actually seen?
I used to keep all mine in a book which, sadly, got damaged, so I transferred it to spreadsheets.
League Games
Home
Played: 1,278
Won: 620
Drawn: 347
Lost: 311
Away
Played: 885
Won: 228
Drawn: 246
Lost: 411
So a total of 2,163 league games plus 150 FA Cup, 142 League Cup, 1 European Cup, 4 Fairs Cup, 5 Europa League and then there are the Sherpa Van games, Watney Cup, friendlies and I've never kept records of reserve, youth team games etc.
