Australia v England Cricket Semi Final
This game starts in around an hour and a half at Edgbaston.
The forecast is for thunder storms during the afternoon so there is every chance that play will be carried over to tomorrow's second day.
We need predictions for the outcome.
I reckon Morgan will win the toss and bat and England will score 298.
The wicket and outfield will then be damp making it more difficult for the batters and the Aussies will fall short by 30 runs.
I know that I will be completely wrong but it should be a cracking game even if it was £200 + for a ticket.

Re: Australia v England Cricket Semi Final
Australia will be put in to bat and Englandrip through them with a brilliant spell of fast swing bowling. Then knock of the runs for the loss of two wickets. Resulting in another glorious Australian failure in a semi final.

Re: Australia v England Cricket Semi Final
Hopefully we will bat first, think itll be a huge advantage.
Hopefully our middle will find some sort of form, and if we get off to a good start, we punish a proper side with a big total.
Just hope there's no silly shot selections and giving away our wickets.
Think it could be won by either side in the field. Put down one of the big hitters/scorers, and they could literally take the game away from you.
All what's left to say is
COME ON ENGLAND

Re: Australia v England Cricket Semi Final
It will all come down to the toss of a coin.
Whoever wins the toss and bats first will win the game.
Slow pitches throughout this World Cup have made it very difficult to chase.
England's improved results have come from batting first (chasing didn't work) and restricting the opposition as the pitch became more difficult to score runs on.

Re: Australia v England Cricket Semi Final
Crazy to think that ability will count for very little if you lose the toss.

Re: Australia v England Cricket Semi Final
The weather looks OK for the first innings with then the possibilty (20-30%) of showers / thunder thenceforth - so the weather shouldnt interfere enough to need the reserve day.
It looks a fairly even game for starters but, with the aspects of luck around toss/weather interference, even more difficult to speculate.
Bookies have England a slight favoutites so I'll go with that.
As already said, it may depend on a great/dropped catch or close run-out etc. I'm just hoping the despicable Warner doesnt play a big/decissive knock.

What's the par score on this pitch? 270-280?

Re: Australia v England Cricket Semi Final
England keep saying that they are now an improved team than earlier in the World Cup but that improvement has come from Morgan winning the toss and batting first.
Losing the toss makes it difficult on these slow pitches and high percentage of games have been won by teams batting first.
Let's hope for some early wickets and that this pitch behaves well throughout the game and that the weather stays dry.

Re: Australia v England Cricket Semi Final
Let the bowlers do the business now we dont want be chasing 250 +
Keep them down around the 200 mark and its doable 300 and above
The pitch will slow and we've had it COYE

When they won the toss and batted I thought we may as well forget it, but then Finch hides his bat behind his pad and goes first ball....you never know...!!!

Handscombe has already been very, very lucky and looks like he won't last 5 minutes. If he gets runs I'll be very surprised, especially remembering he's not played in any of the previous matches so he's in a tough spot.

Aussies looking nervous. Get into 'em whilst the going is good.

Vodafone blocking my VPN, so no cricket for me. Anyone else had this?
Re: Australia v England Cricket Semi Final
Go to reddit - insect enthusiasts (get it?) - you’ll find a thread for the game there. Click on that and in the URL change the ‘r’ in reddit to a ‘c’. Should give you a few options of streams.Bertiebeehead wrote:Vodafone blocking my VPN, so no cricket for me. Anyone else had this?
Re: Australia v England Cricket Semi Final
Vodaphone have form for this, sometimes they blanket blacklist VPN at their end.Bertiebeehead wrote:Vodafone blocking my VPN, so no cricket for me. Anyone else had this?
But other times they make it so you phone / internet etc automatically add VPNs to the content control ( classing them alongside Pron and Illegal Download sites etc). If that is the case you can remove that by going into your settings.
