“Getting sacked in the morning”
Which managers have Burnley “got sacked” where a match against us has been the final straw for a manager and they have subsequently been sacked after playing us?

Wasn’t McClaren sacked at Forest soon after we’d beaten them 5-1 in 2011?

Palace sacked De Boer after we beat them 1-0 at home.

Re: “Getting sacked in the morning”
One definite was Nigel Worthington at Norwich in 2006. We won 4-1 at Carrow Road and he’d lost his job by the time we got back to the car.

2 managers got sacked directly after facing us in the same season.
Think it was De Boer and Pardew in 17/18 season.

Appleton at Blackburn, March 2013, sacked by Shebby despite David Dunn’s outrageous offside equaliser

Appleton was also dismissed after we drew with Blackburn, or so I think.

Initially thought we were the ones responsible for Megson’s dismissal before Coyle jumped ship but it was actually after the next home game. Remember the Bolton fans absolutely hammering Megson at the Turf.

That was the day Gartside told some Bolton fans outside the Turf that the opposition manager would be at Bolton within daysSwizzlestick wrote:Initially thought we were the ones responsible for Megson’s dismissal before Coyle jumped ship but it was actually after the next home game. Re: “Getting sacked in the morning”
I guess it's too soon to claim that our 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge in April led to Sarri leaving Chelsea at the end of the season?
And, the 0-3 at the Amex didn't help Chris Hughton's to keep his Brighton job?
I hope Chris Hughton is in a new role soon.

Certainly his family and many other Norwich fans wanted Burnley to win so Worthington got potted.

Appalling treatment of Worthington that day from the home crowd, absolutely appalling, and seemingly led by the cook in the directors box who could be seen telling supporters at the end that he was going.Quickenthetempo wrote:I was working with Peter Thornes brother at the time of the game.

Two of our best performances of the season, Bolton at home and Arsenal the home game before. Yet people say we were already down under Coyle.

Coppull resigned .He spent most of the match with his head in his hands.Reading fans always felt the match at the Turf was their chance.Once we had a 1 0 lead the second leg was always going to be a challenge but once Pato scored it was time for Que sera sera to boom out from the away end as Reading gave up

Re: “Getting sacked in the morning”
They were better than us in the first leg and I would have been happy to come away with a 0-0 draw. Andre Bikey though handed things to us. I also thought they were better than us in the first half at Reading and if Simon Church, who gave Christian Kalvenes a roasting, could have crossed a ball we might have been in trouble. Then .... Martin Paterson and then .... Steven Thompson - that was it.Woodleyclaret wrote:Coppull resigned .He spent most of the match with his head in his hands.Reading fans always felt the match at the Turf was their chance.Once we had a 1 0 lead the second leg was always going to be a challenge but once Pato scored it was time for Que sera sera to boom out from the away end as Reading gave up

Our players definitely got Brian Laws the sack with their performance against Scunthorpe...still have flashbacks of Gabor Kiraly trying desperately to run back to his goal as they broke on us from a corner he had come upfield for

Gabor Kiraly left the club long before the game you refer to which was against QPR in 2007.claret10 wrote:Our players definitely got Brian Laws the sack with their performance against Scunthorpe...still have flashbacks of Gabor Kiraly trying desperately to run back to his goal as they broke on us from a corner he had come upfield for

The QPR game in Nov 2007, we were 1-0 down into stoppage time and got a corner. Coyle sent Kiraly up but they broke and scored.
The Scunthorpe game was the final game of 2010 when we turned in a miserable performance which saw off Brian Laws. Lee Grant was in goal that day.
