Basketball for me. I played it at top level for years and if my knees were better would still try to play now.

Re: What is your second favorite sport
I have thought about this, but 2nd for me would come a long , long way behind football.
I truly detest most other sports. Not just the american ones , cricket and golf and tennis I find dull beyond belief.
used to be boxing, in the days when the real fighters were involved.

Cricket first and football 2nd.
Partly because I played cricket a lot more and partly because I don't like the cold as much as I'm getting older.
Sitting out in the summer sun is perfect for watching sport.

Re: What is your second favorite sport
When we moved to Kent in 1968 the nearest football team was Gillingham so we went to watch speedway at Canterbury. Have many happy memories and travelled throughout England and Scotland watching Canterbury Crusaders. Sadly the sport ceased in Canterbury due to complaints about the constant noise (2 hours from 7 until 9 every Saturday in the summer. Love cricket and despite living 51 years in Kent it is Lancashire all the way !!

Cock fighting. I lost all interest in that when I realised it was chickens. I thought it was like thumb wrestling but for blokes with massive cocks.Rileybobs wrote:Not even bull fighting? Or bear-baiting?

Re: What is your second favorite sport
Like sport in general.
Theres a list of preference when flicking through obviously, but I'll always put something on, even if I dont particularly know the rules especially if England are playing.
Theres obviously always a scenario where others jump to the top depending on the scale of the event, like I'd watch England in a rugby final over let's say Sunderland v Swindon, even though I prefer football.
My preference is
Football
Cricket ( if England, otherwise darts jumps infront )
Darts
Snooker
Boxing
Rugby ( both kinds )
9 ball/pool
Then pretty much anything and everything on equal par

Re: What is your second favorite sport
If it wasn’t for Burnley, I’d quite easily give up with live football. The money is obscene and the cheating is rife.
Moto GP. Bike racing has always been an incredibly exciting sport to watch. Makes F1 look like a car show procession.
Boxing. It was the golden age of the middleweights that got me hooked. Hearns Hagler Leonard and Duran were just superb.
Rugby league. Good fast game played by tough men who don’t try to cheat by pretending to be injured.

Re: What is your second favorite sport
It depends if you mean to participate in or to watch on TV.
I'm too old/crocked for the volleyball and caving that I used to enjoy, so would now pick croquet as the participation sport. Not the golf croquet that usually gets served up to newcomers, which is pretty lame, but association croquet.
It's a lot cheaper than golf, and you don't get the overimposing stuckupness that seems to attach itself to a lot of bowls clubs with their little badges and school ties etc.
To watch live, a bit of cricket rugby or ice hockey. Add nfl to the list to watch on TV. It depends who is playing though. I'd rather watch pontypridd v bonymaen than saracens v harlequins, say. There again I'd rather watch a rerun of pride and prejudice on gold that man u v Liverpool.

Basketball. I played for Burnley and also coached them for a while. I was delighted when Sky started showing the NBA season this year, I think recorded and watched every game Sky showed.
