Clearly second favourites now. Think this will be very difficult to win now.

Bairstow nearly plays on a couple of times an innings to be fair, hes got lucky twice this innings a lone.

Difficult to get momentum and they batted at just over four per over all the way through. We are fast approaching six per over.

Jos will come in and blast us to victory.
Re: England v New Zealand
Only in England would we produce a pitch that completely suits the opposition style of play perfectly!
And this is not hindsight, I was saying this as soon as I saw it.

Bairstow got away with 2 inside edges on to stumps against India and also 1 against NZ before dragging on.

Absolute top notch bowling. Bairstow was unlucky there because at least he was keeping the scoreboard ticking whilst adapting his normal game to the great bowling. Root lost the plot.

Root put England in trouble, 7 runs off 30 balls is appalling.

I’m not sure getting 167 from 174 balls is very likely on this wicket.Tall Paul wrote:I'd still take England to win at evens

My post of 25 June, when we were playing the Aussies, could well come back to haunt me ---I sincerely hope not!!

Why they keep playing these crucial games at Lords I'll never know.BigChaCha wrote:Only in England would we produce a pitch that completely suits the opposition style of play perfectly!

It levels the playing field up too much for the opposition in terms of wicket and crowd. It's hardy home advantage.
Our win rate is also poor here.

You can’t expect to win a World Cup final easily. Will have to do it the hard way.

Didn't say I agreed with it I was just posting what the computer indicated.
As for the pitch I have watched most games and, shall we say, they have at least been consistent in getting slower as the game goes on. Hardly any of the pitches have been up to standard which is why there have been low scores and very few teams chasing scores down.

Its not the pitch setup .its lords we have the best batting line up in the world but play the final on the all time leveller square which is lordsBigChaCha wrote:Only in England would we produce a pitch that completely suits the opposition style of play perfectly!

I can’t imagine they’d ever play it anywhere else when it’s being held here. It’s considered the head quarters of the game worldwide.MACCA wrote:Why they keep playing these crucial games at Lords I'll never know.

Re: England v New Zealand
England play well when the ball comes on. The ball is holding up and hard to get away..its a nurdle the ball around for singles pitch...we dont play like that
Re: England v New Zealand
Not been great at chasing anyway, and under this pressure with this scoreboard, I cant see us pulling it round.
Stokes is the only one in any sort of form.
Butler hasn't had a knock yet, and you can only really ask for 50 from our last 4 ( if overs dont run out )

This really is the key wicket. If these are still in by the 35th we have a chance.
