Your all-time favourite piece of music?
Desert Island Discs got me thinking....if you had to chose a single piece of music what would it be?
The sheer amount and variety of music makes it an Incredibly hard decision. So what is the piece that you never tire of?

Carmina Burana by Carl Orff....
I love the soundtrack to Gladiator......

My sister says Castles in the Sky by Ian van Dahl often reminds her of me, as I used to play it all the time, until it got commercialized and then you'd hear it every day anyway. So perhaps that one. Or 'One and One' by Robert Miles.

Depends on mood, but Appetite for Destruction was the first album I ever owned and go back to it time and time again, so I'd go with Rocket Queen

Re: Your all-time favourite piece of music?
Very hard to pin down one particular piece but I've always said my favourite song/piece is Awaken by Yes, of course that is a 20 minute album piece that is closely run by several other 'long' songs from albums.
If pinned down to singles there is a shortlist:
Boys of Summer - Don Henley
Days - The Kinks (with a great big nod in the direction of the Kirsty McColl version)
Vincent - Don McLean
Come up and see me (Make Me Smile) - Cockney Rebel
Oddly, McArthur Park by Richard Harris is up there but I think as much for the memories as anything else,

If literally stuck on an island then this is a great pick as it's both a long song at 13mins and contains both a chill and rockier vibes in one song.Better Call Saul wrote:'Shine on you Crazy Diamond' by Pink Floyd.

Two people have already said this, remarkably on a relatively short thread, but Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen, for sheer cinematic, lyrical romanticism has everything. Funeral song for me.

Dirty old town sung by the Pogues. Though written about Salford it fits the spirit of the town of Burnley that I loved being a teenager in in the 60s. When my sister was dying from cancer many years ago I noticed my brother in law was playing this too. It reminds me of her too.
Bring him home and Fix you reminds me of the love my wife has for her family.
