New Season - What are you looking forward to?

Post by claretburns » Mon Jul 15, 2019 2:42 pm

Less than 4 weeks to go till the new season begins, Premier League that is anyway, what is the thing you most look forward to on the first game?

For me, after the years in the Championship with awful pitches throughout the winter, I love seeing the perfect pitch when you walk in for the first home game, knowing you have 9 months of drama ahead.

The first VAR decision to go our way.

I think it will be sometime in April.

Seeing how doing some early business helps our early form.

Ive long been frustrated at us leaving business to the last minute and as a resukt starting the season with the same 11 as others get up to speed.

Not convinced Pieters and Jay will start against Southampton. However i believe they and us will be 100 percent ready for that game. Along with hopefuly 2 or even 3 more.

Back to being a grumpy arse, and flying off the handle when we dont get a result.

Been far too chilled and mellow with all the relaxing at the cricket I've been doing.

I'm looking forward to seeing if we really are now an 'established top flight club'. I think we are but if we can survive another season (hopefully with ease) then I really think we can call ourselves established. An added bonus would be to see West 'Am get relegated and United miss out on a Champions League place (again). I do hope my second team Brighton do well

Lowerhouse v Burnley the same day as the Southampton match. Tough decisions to be made

Picking and choosing my games. No ST this year. I’ll probably end up attending most of Home Games anyway, but I’m looking forward to not feeling obliged to. I might have a trip around the stands, too. Being in the same seat for a decade has got a bit dull.

Seeing McNeil score against Arsenal, with a further assist to give them something to look at.
OGS changing from fresh-faced young manager to Gollum's less attractive brother after a bad run of results.
Steve Bruce losing weight with worry in his new job- & Mike Ashley contentedly putting some on as he sells to the Russian Mafia.

Suppose there's always the hope that we could be a surprise package again like the year we finished 7th, or that we'll take the cups more seriously. Things will get dull very quickly if every season just ends up being a relegation battle.

Nothing specific. Just looking forward to the new season as I do every year. I know there will be ups and downs and I’ll get stressed out but really looking forward now and can’t wait for the first friendly on Saturday.

We are a bit of an unknown quantity until more players come in, if they do, so tbh my main anticipation isn't for us atm.

Im really curious how Chelsea will go about things with their ban, and finally giving a chance to several youngsters.

I think the League will be a bit different this year. City and Liverpool are miles ahead of everyone but I honestly think the likes of Everton and Leicester will really push Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea. I don't think come the end of the season it will be the usual suspects making up the top 6. I'd like to think if we strengthen in centre mid and McNeil stays fit we could be pushing for a top half finish.

Not financial. Just fancied a change. I’m bored with sport in general; I didn’t watch a moment of the Cricket or Wimbledon. Burnley FC is my only real interest, sporting wise, but I’ve got loads of other stuff I want to do with my weekends, so it will no longer take priority.

Funny in years gone by when I was very young the biggest thrill was getting into to the ground running up the stairs and taking my first look at the pitch which was always pristine , always a wow moment which I looked forward to . Simple times in the 60s I must say .
