Re: Away and 3rd kits
Was told last week that the away kit (blue) would be announced early August but no idea on the third kit (green).
There were no actual confirmed dates for either.

We’re just going to wear the home shirt inside-out.

Don't understand why the designs can't all be released at the same time.

Re: Away and 3rd kits
Probably from a sales point of view - if the release is staggered then they can create a bit of hype during the off season and people might buy the home and then the away a few weeks later followed by the 3rd.Murger wrote:Don't understand why the designs can't all be released at the same time.
If all 3 were released people would just pick their favourite and only buy that one.

What they should do is release all 3 together and put on offers.bfccrazy wrote:Probably from a sales point of view - if the release is staggered then they can create a bit of hype during the off season and people might buy the home and then the away a few weeks later followed by the 3rd.

£45 for 1
£80 for 2
£115 for 3
That way they’d probably make more rather than people paying £45 for the home shirt and waiting until the others are on sale at £20

Re: Away and 3rd kits
Does the club even care how many they sell to fans and when?
20000 shirt sales at £45 a pop is still less than a million - hardly a major source of income (and I'm sure we don't sell anywhere near 20000!)
Is the staggering of kits at Umbro's request - i.e. supply chain?

Re: Away and 3rd kits
Makes sense but if that was the case why wait so long to release the first kit. At this rate the third kit will be released after the players have worn it for a game!bfccrazy wrote:Probably from a sales point of view - if the release is staggered then they can create a bit of hype during the off season and people might buy the home and then the away a few weeks later followed by the 3rd.

The only date that matters is the one when they start selling off the kids' ones for a tenner.

Re: Away and 3rd kits
Didn't we have to wait until the contract with Puma expired?
Re: Away and 3rd kits
All income doesn’t need to go under the same roof as such. Eg Shirt sales = Transfer fees. Run it like a clothing store. Reinvest the money into better products. Which in turn will increase sales and fans/visitors maybe returning to buy more items rather than just a shirt every year.Selby Claret wrote:Does the club even care how many they sell to fans and when?

I think we actually started our Europa League campaign without actually releasing the away shirt. The past 5 years plus it has been so frustrating waiting for the release as it has got later and later.

It is annoying as I now have to book my holiday later on in the year just so I can spend a fortnight sat next to the pool in the latest shirt to correct people who ask “Villa? West Ham?”

Ive been told it’s “blue and blue” which makes me think it will be two shades of blue....hopefully neither of which is dark enough to be the same blue as them down t’roadShappie wrote:Light or dark blue Tony?

Probably similar to the colours used in the training gear range which are vista blue and teal green.

I doubt that. When Dyche took over he hated the two tone blue away kit that season as chosen by Howe.

Re: Away and 3rd kits
When I was in the club shop on Saturday I got told the away strip would be out in 3rd August the Parma match and the 3rd kit would be out for Liverpool match on the 31st.
Wouldn't confirm colours, which seem to be common knowledge anyway.

Re: Away and 3rd kits
I can't understand the late release.
The shirts are only around for 1 season, and often go half price just after Christmas.
Release it in August and there's only 5 months before it's half the price - and I've had a good number of shirt over 10 years. I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks this. Release it 2 months earlier and that's a big difference.
Having said that, with the sponsorship deals, 1 season shirts and the drop in price so quickly, I still can't understand why they don't drop the price of shirts. Although perhaps they are happy with the sales, but on the grand scheme of things, would it really make much difference to sell them at £30?

Yes. In the Sherpa van season, 1988, our away kit was identical to Tranmeres home kit, their away kit was identical to our home in every way apart from badge and sponsors. If thats what you mean.boatshed bill wrote:Slightly off topic. Has any club's shirt ever been the reverse of ours?

You are right, we hadn’t released the away kit. We had to rush out the third kit because we played in it at Aberdeen.gandhisflipflop wrote:I think we actually started our Europa League campaign without actually releasing the away shirt. We released the away kit about three years ago just before we kicked off in it at Morecambe. Was that 2016?

I remember that kit, it was very odd because we had the light blue & claret dafabet kit (are we thinking about the same game?) with navy shorts and socks which just didn't go at all with the shirt. It looked like we'd borrowed someone elses bottom half!ClaretTony wrote:You are right, we hadn’t released the away kit. We had to rush out the third kit because we played in it at Aberdeen.
