The Development Squad

Post by Guller Bull » Fri Jul 19, 2019 8:14 am

Not living anywhere near Burnley, I never get the chance to see any of these lads and other than the reports on here I know little about them.

What kind of players have we got coming through.

I see that Josh Benson and Ali Koiki now linked with the first team squad, what kind of players are they?
How far away from the first team squad are some of the other players like Harker, Chakwana etc.

I don't know, all I can add is that Chakwana was not offered a new deal and therefore isnt with Burnley anymore

You might think that clubs what with all the technologicle development around these days would know that not all supporters live in the town/city of their team.

Must be a way to record and make games available at "reasonable" prices.

As mentioned above, Chakwana left Burnley at the end of last season. This surprised a few people but it seems we had to make way for some of the talent we've got coming through. He's been linked with Sunderland since leaving. Saw a vague report that he'd signed for them but not sure I'd trust the source.

I can't imagine anyone should have been surprised at Chakwana being released. He was getting less and less game time last season and was clearly not in Steve Stone's plans. He was linked with Sunderland but also with Barnsley.

I just saw a number of comments on this forum by people who mentioned he'd had a decent scoring record while with us (perhaps that was the season before last?).

Do any of the lads coming through seem like genuine prospects?

It's the Burnley equivalent of a black hole

One more than came through last season - don't think we've got anyone like McNeil but I'd think Benson probably has the best chance right now.

Richardson seems to have been hitting the headlines, aswell as playing a few years up. He was the lad who scored 5 in a half on his debut. Think he was 16 and playing for the under 18s

He has been linked with a few big clubs, but how true that is who knows.

I think the pathway is being cleared for him regards other forwards at various age groups, to get game time and help his progress.
Happens quite a bit where if theres a talent they'll clear the pathway or concentrate on them foremost, sometimes at a cost to the others in the squads/their position
