Favourite covers
Just been listening to one of my favourite covers and wondered which songs people preferred the covers to the original.
My top 3, in no particular order
Disturbed- Sound of Silence
Eva Cassidy- Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Al Green- How Can You Mend A Broken Heart
If I knew how to link in a You Tube Video I would, you'll have to search, or take my word.
Any others....

Johnny Cash - Hurt
Original written by Trent Reznor of the band nine inch nails about drug addiction.
Johnny Cash just gives it a whole new element and it always makes the hairs stand up for me.

Another is Ryan Adams cover of Oasis - Wonderwall
A song we’ve all heard countless times but Adams version again gives it a whole different feel.

The ghost of tom joad. Springsteen. (Springsteen did the original, then covered it himself with help from Tom morello of rage against the machine)
Pressure drop. The clash.
Hurt. Cash.

'Where did our love go'...the original version was by the Supremes in 1964.
It was then covered by Donnie Elbert in 1971, I much prefer this version - it became a Northern Soul favourite..Rose Room anyone?

Sorry to derail this thread a little, but….. I was first introduced to Eva Cassidy music by a friend while back in England on vacation a number of years back. I was instantly smitten by her immense talent. I’m pretty sure I have all her CD’s in my collection. The duet album she made with Chuck Brown titled “The Other Side” is, IMHO, one of the best albums ever made. A video below, taken from the duet album, is, again IMHO, nothing but top shelf, send shivers up my spine every time I hear it. One of the best jazz recordings ever!

Always liked the Stones' version of Going to a go go.
Sometimes I think that I like it better than the original. But then I hear Smokey and think, maybe not.
