If it's a young couple moving into their first house then a list is perfect.
If not, just wrap up the nice hotel towels from where you stay.

We have had such lists and used them as a guide and bought similar or just given a gift voucher. Once had one with white goods on it fridge , freezer, washer dryer etc cheeky buggers got a £ 25 Argos voucher from us in end.

The best gift you could give is to decline the invitation, and allow some-one who actually wants to attend the Ceremony to do so, you joyless miserable two-hat !fatboy47 wrote:Off in a few weeks to some big wanky pretentious do near Rochdale....is there anywhere even vaguely nice near Rochdale?

Just chuck £50 in a card. Bosh, sorted.

If giving £50 you expect to have a good meal and wine at the reception.claret2018 wrote:Just chuck £50 in a card. Bosh, sorted.

I thought this was pretty standard?claret2018 wrote:Just chuck £50 in a card. Bosh, sorted.
Always struggle buying stuff for a couple as you don’t know what they want/need so just think cash (which is pretty much a universal ‘voucher’) is better than a voucher for some random store they have to go to to use.

Re: Wedding present lists.
If it's a link to something online then John Lewis do a gift list where once someone has bought it, no one else can. All the gifts then get delivered at the same time on a day specified by the gift list owner.fatboy47 wrote:Off in a few weeks to some big wanky pretentious do near Rochdale....is there anywhere even vaguely nice near Rochdale?

There's a John Lewis in Rochdale?
Re: Wedding present lists.
If only they'd provide some sort of list of things they want/need, eh?bfccrazy wrote:I thought this was pretty standard?

Re: Wedding present lists.
those lists make people seem like greedy ******** in my opinion, just nip down rochdale market and get them 5 LBS of potatoes, everyone will be happy.
Re: Wedding present lists.
That's my view with those lists. It's simply a way for the bride & groom to fleece the guests and get as much money back from the cost of the wedding.Wile E Coyote wrote:those lists make people seem like greedy ******** in my opinion, just nip down rochdale market and get them 5 LBS of potatoes, everyone will be happy.

A mate of mine wound up not getting married at all after the wedding list went out...his bride-to-be took a dim view of him putting Anelina Jolie on it.

Rochdale town centre is literally a slum town full of charity shops ,pawn brokers, food banks and pound shops. ably serving the daytime populace of tramps ,gypsies, junkies ,beggars and bottom dwelling floatsam. The outside seats at Spoons are a joy to behold. Burnley is like Alderley Edge in comparison to this Dickensian sewer.

Well if it’s a list for furniture and other household things then let to go to charity shops and pick most of up for song.Quickenthetempo wrote:If it's a young couple moving into their first house then a list is perfect.
If not, just wrap up the nice hotel towels from where you stay.
Amazing what people will throw away or get bored with these days, usually couples don’t have a great deal of money so charity shops should suit them fine.

A not unreasonable point but the way it has been done virtually blocks out the river and the Butts always seems like a no mans land people can’t wait to get out of.Shore claret wrote:Aye but since the bridge has Been opened up it looks nicer
