Like it or not the introduction of Heaton stopped what was a terminal situation, been done to death on here

Looks like we'll have to get an entire new back 4 now, because they were useless without Heaton last season.

It will probably look like a completely different back 4 without Heaton behind them to manage them properly.Bin Ont Turf wrote:Looks like we'll have to get an entire new back 4 now, because they were useless without Heaton last season.

And last night he was certainly the most vocal I've heard him. Presumeably he's benefiting from some time with Billy Mercer.wilks_bfc wrote:Hart isn’t a bad keeper he’s just a bad communicator compared to Tom
To blame the entire first half of last season just on Hart is ridiculous.

Re: Heats
If Pope has a groin strain we may soon find out whether the first half of last season was Hart being a poor communicator or, as I suspect, that the defence were all over the place due to Dyche’s approach to Europe which ruined the highlight of many of their careers.
Re: Heats
When Pope signed his deal I knew Heaton would be off. I said it a the time and some agreed while others thought I was talking rubbish.
Even if we offer Heaton what villa are offering it’s clear that Heaton will have to fight very hard to keep his place in the first team with Pope, and to a much lesser extent Hart, breathing down his neck.
Heaton wants games and you can’t have two of the best English keepers in the same squad and keep them both happy. One was always going to go and when Pope signed that deal it was obvious who was going to move on

Gutted Tom’s gone but it’s the right move and time for him as he enters the “ last big contract” phase of his career . We have a cracking keeper in Nick Pope and anyone thinking Joe Hart is anything but high class really needs to give their heads a wobble

Re: Heats
Add to the rumour that Heaton had refused to sign another contract and this was an inevitable outcome. Worrying for me that Pope is injured again and looks like we will be starting the season with Hart. It has been done to death on here, but it was no coincidence that we were shipping goals and losing games on a regular basis whilst he was playing. Still it's more money in the bank and we will wait for the statements like "we are stronger than last season" and "happy with the group we have" to be trotted out to try and disguise the latest in a long line of shambolic transfer windows.Inchy wrote:When Pope signed his deal I knew Heaton would be off. Re: Heats
He's out of contract. Surely wants to play. Apparently on here he is a world class keeper and better than Heaton.
Surely if ol Tommy is worth 50k a week, Hart must be worth 200 by comparison?
Why's no one bidding then? They could probably have him on a free.

Re: Heats
I love Heaton.
I can't think of a keeper who makes so few mistakes.
In an ideal world we wouldn't sell him to a relegation rival.
But
We can only play one keeper at a time. Both Heaton and Pope are too good to be sat on the bench.
Pope had a superb season before injury, if he can produce this kind of form this season we will do well with Hart as very capable cover.
Good luck Tom I will miss you and wish you well.
Come on Clarets we are better than all this doom and gloom.

Disappointing for me is that this seems not to be a footballing decision but which sale gives most financial benefit (also considering TH out of contract next year)

Nobody is bidding for Hart because nobody wants him.
Remember when City let him go he went on loan to Torino - not one of Serie A’s big clubs. After a pretty dreadful spell at Torino he went to West Ham - again not many clubs queueing up. He lost his place at West Ham after a few mistakes to Adriano - a keeper they were not happy with anyway....hence signing Fabianski.
He’s done ok for us - and he’s clearly been a very very good keeper in his City days.
For a number of reasons he’s lost his confidence and there are now a lot better keepers everywhere in the league - infact up until today we had 2 keepers better than him.
He was rumoured with Porto a couple of weeks ago - that would be a great signing for him. Usually win the league , champions league football and a bit of sun (as long as he puts factor 50 on that bald patch)

Re: Heats
Whilst on the surface I think that selling Heaton is utter madness and we really should be advertising loud and clear that Hart is up for sale or even free to a good home, I suspect the club and Tom are both being totally practical. Only one keeper can play and Tom could well be consigning himself to a whole season on the bench when he's already 33(?) and with the club having just signed Pope to a new long term deal they have clearly shown where they feel the future lies. It's sad and it's a great shame, but I feel it may just be realistic tbh.

Can't wait for the good news in a few months time now we have received another £9m and spent relatively little.........' RECORD PROFITS AGAIN'
Sell Tarks and replace him with Cahill and the profit could be at a mind boggling level, just hope its Dunk Leicester go for or as this could be a disastrous start to what was looking like a promising pre-season

If you believe that Tom Heaton is currently the best goalkeeper at the club then this is not a footballing decision which to me is disappointing given our current financial position. If you don’t believe the premise then fair enough.

Re: Heats
I actually believe that Pope is the best of the keepers, BUT there suddenly appears to be doubt over his fitness and that casts a shadow over all this which to me means I'd be keeping hold of Heaton. If anything I'd be shipping Hart out, but I tend to think we've probably been trying all summer and nobody's biting.

Re: Heats
To be fair though, this has been discussed umpteen times, and the consensus with quite a few posters was that due to his poor organising of the defence, that caused him to face more shots. I'd like to see the stats though on shots faced with Heaton vs Hart.jrgbfc wrote:The whole team and Dyche were well under par the first half of last season, to make Hart the sole scapegoat is ridiculous. The player that keeps us in the league gets sold great news
Re: Heats
I was listening to Talksport about 10am and they were debating the Heaton transfer with Dean Saunders who said he almost signed him when he went to Bristol City. They said they hope to have Dyche on later..wilks_bfc wrote:Who is? Tom?
Re: Heats
I like Heaton a lot. If he wants to go for a longer contract and cash we have no choice but to get the best price for him. The concern is how the defence played in front of Hart and particularly if Pope is not fit.
