We've been linked with him for quite some time and I wouldn't be surprised to sign him, but he hasn't signed for us, certainly not yet.Blyclaret wrote:Signs for Burnley 3.5 million.

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
Hasn’t signed but our £3.5m bid has been accepted apparently
Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
Hopefully we can develop this lad like we have Pope

'Burnley were able to free up some cash with the sale of Heaton'
Who on earth is in charge of the money if we're reliant on sales before we bring someone in?

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
Interesting nod to the fact that he couldn’t get first team football as a factor in leaving. Surely won’t get that here either?

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
Tom (Sounds like a Peacock) Heaton leaving (possibly/probably) and we sign another Peacock in Bailey Peacock-Farrell ... cut to Twilight Zone music
Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
Shame we aren't showing the same urgency when it comes to signing a midfielder.

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
I would imagine that statements like 'freeing up cash' are put out by the club so that those we are looking to sign players from don't see us in the same light as other Premier League clubs and put their prices up accordingly. It makes a lot of sense to act like a pauper when you are trying to make purchases in a flexible market.

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
His comments are interesting. Wants to leave Leeds to play football. He ain’t gonna get any at Burnley in the current situation plus he ain’t good enough for the first team yet.
Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
How do you know? None of us know what the situation is regarding deals. A lot of people are quick to have a dig at the club without knowing the facts.jrgbfc wrote:Shame we aren't showing the same urgency when it comes to signing a midfielder.

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
Putting aside the ludicrous Heaton situation, I think this is a sensible signing.
By all accounts, the lad was very highly rated as he was coming through the academy and into the first team, and has had some very good games and rave reviews since.
However, he hit a difficult patch last season which he never really recovered from at Leeds. That shows he’s obviously not the finished article, and will need working with extensively, but I’m confident there’s no better person to do that with him than Billy Mercer.
Now, let’s do the same with this midfielder we need. Get someone signed up before the window shuts.

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
Wasn't Joe Hart told recently that he could leave on a free and to find a new club?
Or, has the situation now changed with Tom leaving?
If not, the lad from Leeds could well find himself in first team action sooner rather than later.

Lots of Leeds fans saying he is pants but I'm sure Leeds were top with him in the team.ksrclaret wrote:Putting aside the ludicrous Heaton situation, I think this is a sensible signing.

What happens if the Heaton sale falls through?
Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
No we get £9m for a keeper who has decided he doesn’t want to play for us anymore - making us a £9m profit on what we paid for him.FCBurnley wrote:So we get 4.5 million plus BPF for an England GK ?
And we buy a young keeper for £3.5m for the future.
2 separate transactions....

Maybe BPF will be worth 5x his current fee in 2 years once Billy "the magician" Mercer has got his hands on him.

I've obviously not seen any of the pre-season games - has Hart been any better on crosses/commanding his area ?

He's still only young, though.

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
Looked poor last season when I saw him. But he’s young and obviously has bags of potential to improve. It makes sense to bring a young player in to replace Heaton. This should appease the people who want us to reduce the age of the squad too.

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
BPF is 22, wasn't Pope on loan at York or similar at his age?
This lad has played ( not taking the p1ss ) in a high pressure stadium infront of 30k for a side topping the table for half a season.
22 is nothing for a GK, and I think some people forget the Billy Mercer factor. The role he plays in developing these goalkeepers shouldn't be underestimated.

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
You like to think that despite the numerous negative comments about this lad from Leeds and elsewhere, Billy mercer, who clearly knows his stuff when it comes to keepers and potential and what they need to do to improve, has had a long hard look and seen something he believes in. (Hopefully! )

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
Thinking about it, we don't need much of a conveyor belt, just see who's doing well at our feeder club.
Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
Has he featured in their first team much? I remember they had the Kiko Spanish lad in goal a lot last season.. and even this year they were linked with Buffon has stupid as that was.. but still, where did that put Peacock Farrell.
I'm guessing he was 2nd/3rd choice or future prospect for them, is that what we are signing him for too... hoping that one day he will become a keeper good enough for the Premier League? Cause the offer being touted seems like a lot if that's the case.

He was their 1st choice till January I think, and is Northern Ireland's 1st choice as well so he's hardly some inexperienced kid.Wembley09 wrote:Has he featured in their first team much? Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
Careful VC i mentioned that topic on the Heats thread and got shot down, like you i haven't seen any pre-season so i can't comment on Joe's handling of crosses,i'm assuming we've brought this lad from Leeds for the long-term,Hart only has a year left, and it's safe to say he won't be given a new contract,so i suppose if this kid's available at a reasonable fee why not get him in and see what magic Billy Mercer can work.Vegas Claret wrote:I've obviously not seen any of the pre-season games - has Hart been any better on crosses/commanding his area ?
Amazingly we still have 4 keepers if no-one leaves,Nick,Joe,Legzdins and BPF,i can't see how we satisfy all 4,even with the u 23's,and any cup action over the season,so there must be a fair chance that at least one will leave before the window shuts, whether permanent or loan IDK.
