Yep you try and get your head around it. You choose to believe a load of made up rumours about players leaving but choose not to believe rumours about players coming in.
I can’t wait for this window to end - this thread is nearly as bad as the Brexit ones !

We’re anti-football. We just try to stop other teams playing.

We’re anti-transfers. We just try to stop other team’s deals.

Nope! We all know we need to strengthen central midfield.

Hardly. We've reduced our wage bill and spent very little despite the obvious shortcomings in midfield.

As it has been left so late we will just have to cough up. We are one injury away from being very weak in central midfield.

I'd prefer Camarasa to Phillips purely on the type of midfielder that he is. I would love both but if pressed I would opt for the ball playing, box to box type that has a goal in him, personally, ahead of an anchor man. I think he's a bigger change from Cork and Westwood and thus would offer a different option.

What makes you think we will just pay up, we've shown before we are more than willing to risk it, and wont ne held to ransom.

Judt for the record, I think we will get a couple more in

I think the Lo Celso move to Totnum is also deciding this.

Real Betis did bring in Fekir but he seems to have injury issues. Maybe Camarasa likes his chances at Real now?

If palace genuinely want him, he's theirs.

This will all be to bump up either the players terms or that of the agent.

It's not a dig, but we cannot compete with other premier league teams regards package, even more so with the likes of Palace.

Agree but it sounds like they were getting him on loan.

The way we get him could be to offer Betis the cash upfront for a permanent deal. I’m sure they would prefer that as would the player.

MACCA is spot on. It’s classic tactics to squeeze more money from Palace.

That’s where he’s going to go.

I read that too. I also read he doesn't want to leave on a perm, so it would make sense. I'd have him for 12 months, no problem.

Palace always manage to get their targets sorted.
They have a well oiled recuitment team who have the benefit of some very creative cash flow manipulation

And yet there are Palace fans crying on Twitter that they are going down because players like Camarasa aren't good enough! He'll walk into their side and would walk into any team in the bottom 12 sides.

That may be the only way we'd get Camarasa...... offer Betis something that Palace aren't/can't offer, it's basic selling technique- maybe BFC are getting the hang of it after all.
If Lo Celso to Spurs isn't happening Betis may need the cash now instead of 12 months time, £70m takes a lot of finding

That is not true.
We have never been able to compete with £££££ and that has been the case since the maximum wage flew out of the window.
Just look at 1) the finances of the Board of Directors and compare with at least another 30 clubs
2) the size of our ground which we barely fill
3) the cost of tickets
4) the finances of those who support the team compared with many other bigger clubs.

As Stan would say "a blind man on a galloping horse can see we can't compete financially with many many clubs"
Pity too many of Claret fans with all their senses including eyesight, but perhaps lacking the important common sense, repeatedly fail to grasp this important fact.

I think we’ve competed well in previous years actually.

The signings of Hendrick, Defour, Brady, Wood and Gibson demonstrated intent to do so within our means.

It looks to me as though we’ve stopped travelling in that direction though at the moment. Hope I’m wrong but we’ll see by Thursday.

That's not a great argument. £65m spent for just one current first teamer. Whereas the rest of the first team - Pope, Lowton/Bardsley, Mee, Tarkowski, Taylor, Gudmondsson, McNeil, Cork, Westwood, Barnes - cost not half that, all added together. Not to say Gibson won't become a first team player, or that Hendrick won't be in the first XI, but I'd be happier if you were to list expensive stars rather than expensive squad players.

Just one first teamer? Are you sure about that?

They all play for the first team to my knowledge

You may be right but I think the extra cash coming in has made us less competitive in the market due to the inflated transfer fees being demanded now
set against our income. We would have received about £15million less last season compared with 2017-18 for starters and I am guessing that the players you have mentioned would cost more now than when we signed them just because of the fees commanded by Mcguire, Van Dijk and others.
We paid more for Vydra than we did for Andre Gray.

What you call the first team, I call the first team squad. There are 11 players in my first team.

I bet those five aren't all in the first XI on Saturday.

I bet those five aren't all in the first XI on Saturday.
You’d probably win your bet in that case.

But just because they won’t be in the first 11 on Saturday doesn’t mean they are bad examples of signings. If you recall the autumn of 2017 when 4 of those players (not Gibson because he wasn’t here) were in the side and we were playing some wonderful stuff and in the Champions Legaue places!

Injuries curtailed that, but it shows to me that if you recruit better players than you have within your means (they tend to cost the most) you will most likely improve as a team.
