Adams looked decent to me as well but a bit isolated at times. Think both will get a decent amount of goals this season. Their Midfield created little and our two centre backs played very well and did a good job stopping the forwards creating many good chances. Can't see how you could watch that today and would rather have Wood than either of those two he was woeful. Unless he scores he offers absolutely nothing.
The same Wood who got us double figures last year and 9? in preseason?

Difficult to compare because they are different types of players. Both Ings and Adams look to come for the ball and play as a 10, whereas Wood is a finisher - he didn't have a good game today but the reason he hasn't bagged more with us is due to the lack of decent service

And I think he'll score more when Drinkwater comes into the side.

Great defensive display
Of the three, I’d have Redmond at Turf Moor in a heartbeat.

Offers nothing unless he scores?

But he does...... more than many in the prem.

To the lad wanting to bet on Ings getting 15+ goals....... what price are you looking for? I might know somebody who will take your bet.

Last season he ripped us to bits, this time he was anonymous.

Don't mind Wood and he did ok last season. Just pointing out he was poor today and Ings and Adams offer more than just the goals. For a big guy Wood is too soft and far too often he is bullied by defenders or the ball seems to bounce off him. Not to mention the number of offsides.

But you're basically going off one match.

There was the trouble with Ings in January too. I heard he didn't want to play against Sunderland?

Can't remember the precise details but we turned in a stinker against a relegation rival. I think had we won that game we'd have stayed up instead of getting relegated.

In terms of Ings and Wood no, I've seen enough of them in plenty of matches. In terms of Adams yes. Not seen much of him. Like I say don't mind Wood and seems to be in the right place often enough to get a decent number of goals. All round game needs improvement in my view though.

Thought the Ings/Adams partnership was a poor managerial choice; both players were crying out for target man type striker to play alongside them, such as a Vokes or Barnes. You live and learn.

Danny was immense for us, gave us some great memories least of all Ewood. Amazing off the pitch too. Still makes me sad how he downed tools for the last 6 months though and sulked.

I thought our defenders did a superb job on Ings and Adams. Before kick off I was more concerned about Redmond after last seasons visit but again I give credit to the defence. Thought Pieters was outstanding, not the quickest but a good solid performance who doesn't take any prisoners.

I think he started the game but he had a shocker before being subbed. I seem to remember Dyche saying something along the lines of him not being in the right frame of mind to play.

For the 15 minutes or so he came on he played well against us last year - before that we we were easily the better team and should have had the game won.
Thought he was really poor yesterday and Adams wasn’t much better. Tarks and Ben both had excellent games.

Redmond was their best player by a mile.
Both their full backs played well and Ward Prowse also has a decent game. And Romelu is a good player.
First half Southampton played well but I said they couldn’t keep up their pressing game. I also remember their centre backs being poor last year and after seeing the second half I think they could struggle with that team. Their bench didn’t seem that strong either. They need Adams to hit the ground running.

Got on Turf after KO, had to get BBC line up on my phone to check he’s actually been playing when he was subbed off. Many around us didn’t think he’d been on the first half

It's a shame the way Ings left us. I did wonder if he ever regrets his actions, especially now he's not playing for his dream team but an average Southampton team. I suppose he got the big money deal he craved but still think he'd have got that anyway if he'd knuckled down a bit longer with us. Great memories though of the Vokes/Ings partnership.

Strange that Dyche seems to hold a grudge against Ings when he's generally still well thought of by other people at the club and the fans.

I didn't like Ings shaking hands with Liverpool players coming off the pitch at Anfield in a claret shirt when he was subbed by Dyche . Familiarising himself with Liverpool players when he should have had his mind 100% on our survival battle.

His behaviour in the second half of that season is why many Burnley fans will never welcome him back to the Turf with open arms. A real shame but a situation Ings brought on himself.

Surprised how off the pace he looked but I don’t think he was helped by his manager’s team selection and tactics.

Great defensive display
He got out sprinted by Tarkowski. And just gave up almost straight away.

Lost it.

To be fair you wouldn’t want to be a forward up against Tarkowski when he’s on that form.
