Blades v Palace
Quite looking forward to this, should be a good test for both teams.
Think Palace might just do it.

Two poor looking teams of which Sheff Utd are looking slightly the more lively.

Aren't they just? We'd have battered both these yesterday.

Re: Blades v Palace
I think Blades have looked the more likely to win but both defences on top generally.
Wilfred has been kept pretty quiet and seems to be getting frustrated. You still fancy his chances of "winning" a pen as the defenders tire a bit though so I'd go for a Palace win if I was betting at this stage; hope it's a draw though.

Surely you should want the weaker teams to stay at the bottom of the Prem, thus making our chances of staying up easier.

Re: Blades v Palace
I personally think that if we don’t finish above Sheff Utd then we don’t deserve to be in this league .... Palace are a stronger side so the more points they drop over the season the better for us. I hope Sheff take points off all the clubs around our “mini league” and then do the implosion which usually comes around Christmas time for promoted clubs when the buzz of playing in prem wears off a bit and players dip in form.Spijed wrote:Does it really need explaining?

I’ll second that.Vegas Claret wrote:I hope Palace are this **** when we play them
I think SU have done very well.
Norwood,s distribution has been really good at times.
Back four have been really solid so far.

Carrying on from last season, very organised, they won't score many goals but look very solidLowbankclaret wrote:I’ll second that.

Looks like SU are made of straw, slightest nudge and they drop like they've been clobbered. CP just drawn into the trap eveyrtime, constant free kicks and the time wasting really breaking up the flow and CP can't get going.

Re: Blades v Palace
Palace look absolutely dreadful.
If Zaha isn’t up for it this season (and he really doesn’t look it) then I think they’re going. No goals in that side and both the midfield and defence look lacking in any quality. They’ll be relying on penalties.

Re: Blades v Palace
How many chances are they going to give to Benteke? A striker that can’t score usually isn’t the way forward. And Wickham as backup... Amazed they didn’t try to remedy that area.

Re: Blades v Palace
If they don't get over the Zaha transfer episode then they are going to be in trouble.
He doesn't look like he wants to be there and is ineffective as a result - what's more the whole thing could spread discontentment throughout an otherwise pretty average squad, They probably need to drop him but as far as I'm aware they never planned for things to play out like this so don't have many options.
Not that I'm complaining - definitely a team we can finish above.

Re: Blades v Palace
Zaha even looks totally pee’d off on the captions of the players stood in their kits that they use to show the starting line ups before the game.
Re: Blades v Palace
I think Sheff U and Norwich will both be competitive this season. Let's face it the 3 relegated teams last year were pretty dismal. On the other hand the likes of Palace and Newcastle don't look as strong as last season.

Re: Blades v Palace
Agree with a couple of the last few comments:
Sheff U limited but well organised/solid at the back/work their socks off.
Zaha looked OK early on but got frustrated & lost heart (Sheff U kept right on top of him though), Benteke has 4 goals in the last 2 seasons combined and doesn't look like he'll add hugely to that tally this year. Palace need a better CF.

I think judgement can only be made after about six matches.jrgbfc wrote:I think Sheff U and Norwich will both be competitive this season. Let's face it the 3 relegated teams last year were pretty dismal. On the other hand the likes of Palace and Newcastle don't look as strong as last season.
Just checked and Huddersfield won their first two games when they came up two seasons ago, beating Palace away 3-0 in the process.
Re: Blades v Palace
It’s not unusual for promoted teams to get a few good results early season. After all, they are still carrying confidence and momentum from the prior season and may also get underestimated by some of the established sides. However, established sides will soon work out their flaws while a few inevitable heavy defeats to the top sides also starts to erode confidence. Few promoted sides will pick up more points in the second half of the season than the first, so unless they are coming into the new year with 20+ points then I think it will be a struggle for them to stay up. I know we weren’t a promoted side last year, but this puts into context just how remarkable our performance was to stay up last year having started the new year on (was it?) just 12 or 13 points. Despite a couple of recent good results for Naarch and T’Blades, I still think two of the three promoted sides will go down.

I like Sheffield. The people are mostly friendly and it’s a city that reminds me of Burnley. 2 games into the season, I’m not too concerned with relegation possibilities.
