We have no idea what preparation or research he does on lower league opposition but this has happened so consistently it has to be laid at his door.burnleymik wrote:To be fair to Dyche this team should be stomping Sunderland into the ground. Not sure how you can lay this one at Dyche's door.

I delayed setting sail to Fiji so that I could watch the BBC Sport text-reports on line whilst I still had internet; I wish I'd set sail last night now (we're at Thursday morning here already)

Agreed we made 10 changes, but Sunderland made 8,you would expect our back-up to be superior to a League 1 side, that's worrying if we pick up injuries.IanMcL wrote:This team should have won easily.

Re: Mighty Clarets versus Slumberland
Love Dyche to bits, but you'd be mad to not be laying our Cup form on his door.
League One 2nd String Sunderland, following equally rank losses against Accy, Lincoln, Burton and there's others I am forgetting (Port Vale?).
He doesn't want to be in these Cups and you can't help but wonder what discussions are held in the lead up to these games. I am not suggesting we are throwing these, but there's something not right.

Re: Mighty Clarets versus Slumberland
Dyche is 100% responsible for this. He picks the team, sorts the tactics, and motivates the players. He consistently fails to do this properly against inferior opposition in the Cups.

This attitude of let's just finish 17th every year and not bother with the cups will eventually be our downfall. Reminds me of West Brom under Pulis getting to 40 points and downing tools every season.Lord Beamish wrote:Sunderland at Home should’ve been as good as a bye into the next round. Was Dyche in attendance, or did he not bother turning up either?

Bit ashamed to be honest...... thought we put out a decent team tonight, certainly up to the task, we ought to be though being a fairly established top flight team.

Defensive hoof ball style doesn’t work when you need to break down a defensive side, Pulis used to trump Dyche by parking the bus because we’re hopeless at ripping sides open. Absolute zero flair in attack, zero movement.

Quite. The fans need something to cheer about. Of course a club like ours competing in the Premier League is great, but the novelty can and will wear off. A decent crack at the cup would give fans something to cheer about. There's always the FA cup...jrgbfc wrote:This attitude of let's just finish 17th every year and not bother with the cups will eventually be our downfall. So disappointing, I felt we finally had the squad depth, with that team that was out, to actually try in the cups this season.

The positive is, I understand 2,000 Sunderland fans turned up, only 5,000 of the faithful had their money robbed from them.

Surely questions need to be asked of the fringe players though? You'd think they would take the opportunity to impress and try and force their way into the starting eleven. Very disappointing.Lord Beamish wrote:Dyche is 100% responsible for this. He picks the team, sorts the tactics, and motivates the players. Still if he keeps us up for another season don't think many people will care about the usual league cup ignominy

Re: Mighty Clarets versus Slumberland
Its a mentality thing. We lack it in Cups. Surprising as SD always goes on about player mentality Because of this attribute Forest Green held Bournemouth
On a positive it provides a few home truths-Hart & Vydra ????
Can't work out Chris Bodens updates-stating we played well

Losing in this game tonight is irrelevant to the scheme of things.

Re: Mighty Clarets versus Slumberland
Dyche put out a team that was more than capable of winning this game. He fielded players that many on here have demanded be given a chance. We were 1 up and Vydra hit the post from 4 yards. Game probably game over if that went in. Yet there is a constant conspiracy belief he doesn’t care about the Cups. Of course he does.
Most of them have confirmed why they’re not first choice on Saturday. At least that’s been clarified.
Move on . We have been a vast improvement in the league this season and that’s the most important upward trend.
And no I didn’t go tonight as i’m in Bournemouth. They managed to thrash Forest Green Rovers on penalties. The EFL cup us what it is. Get over it.
