Chris Wood - Offside

Post by MRG » Sat Aug 31, 2019 7:15 pm

Today’s game should see Wood place himself back in his rightful position at the top of the offside table for the league.

Repeatedly offside once again.

He had 1 golden chance, sadly like t wolves it was a powder puff effort.
Leather it from 12 yards!

Sadly I dont think it'll change unless it happens for another 2 or 3 games.

Appalling today. Sadly we have no better on the bench.

Only McNeil had close to an average game outside of Tarkowski and possibly Pope. He's clearly instructed to make runs that puts him at a greater risk of being offside, otherwise Dyche would have pulled him aside a long long time ago.

There are times when it's totally excusable when he's trying to get in behind the last man. At other times it's unfathomable like the one today when he was unnecessarily offside from a set piece deep in our half.

Mr offside himself, would have left Barnes on and took Wood off.

He was at the top of the offside table last season quite comfortably. How anyone can believe he isn't offside a lot is not paying attention.

Yes offside a lot. Dyche obviously tells him to play on the shoulder of the last man and put doubt in the defenders mind. Used the same tactic with Gray who was also always offside. Some of them are totally unnecessary though and it is extremely frustrating.

And you will get your rightful place at the top for starting the most threads on one topic - pathetic.

Can't understand why he stays on at the expense of Barnes.

Hi Tony, you took longer than expected. Please can you link all the other threads that I’ve started on this topic?

Unless you are passing your (incorrect) opinion as fact.... again

Have to say there were 3 or 4 occasions today where he was offside due to sheer laziness in terms of not dropping back after an initial ball in or from not even trying to bend or shape his run.

Thought that was his worst game for us today. Really poor.

I am more concerned at his lack of goals. He had a huge miss at Wolves that cost us 2 points and his miss in the second minute today could have changed the game . Both were chances he should have buried. Sadly his place is not under threat by JRod who looks equally out of touch.

How many times was he offside, and how many of those was him trying to get the better of the best defender in Europe, and how many down to lazyness, more the first option I would suggest

Good man. If you dont get caught offside, you arent trying hard enough. It's all a question of timing, and the OP has most probably been called out on the very same thing many times as well.

He really does need four of five good chances to score one most of the time. Incredibly frustrating to watch.

I watched him fairly closely today.

It's mainly a lack of discipline that catches him out, he really does need to be more savvy.

Perhaps he's a bit dim, I don't know.

But he wasnt offside in the opening minutes when he Had two bites of the cherry and missed both...and my 89 year old Mother is a lot quicker rising from her armchair than he his jumping two foot to Head a ball.... which he invariably misses anyway! :?
