Blackpool hotel recommendations
Going with the kids October half term for a couple of nights, any recommendations for hotels or B&Bs? I have stayed at the Grand before but seems pricier than I remember.
Re: Blackpool hotel recommendations
Premier Inn good and provides breakfast served by Lenny Henry according to the ads

The Big Blue is a great hotel with lovely rooms and a great restaurant. There’s a new hotel that’s opened next tonit as well, which I’ll be trying soon and looks lovely.

Never stay at the Norbreck. Each of the 4 walls in my room were papered in different generations. One person checked in to his room to find a (proper male variety) tramp in his bed.
Re: Blackpool hotel recommendations
Village hotels currently have a deal where you can get 2 nights with breakfast plus an evening meal for £139. It’s on the outskirts but close to Stanley park and the zoo and for an extra fee there’s a pool, sauna etc. Not too many decent hotels in Blackpool to be fair...

My mate stayed there last week. Entertaining a lady. He couldn’t believe how bad this place was.Bop wrote:Never stay at the Norbreck. Each of the 4 walls in my room were papered in different generations. One person checked in to his room to find a (proper male variety) tramp in his bed.
That said treating a lady to a weekend in Blackpool he got what he deserved. And I like Blackpool.

Re: Blackpool hotel recommendations
The Ibis Style is a good option.
Good value, great location. Large rooms - (ask for sea front view)
Modern and clean.
Don't book direct use one of the comparison sites.
Half term may be busy so book earlier rather than waiting for deals the week before.

Re: Blackpool hotel recommendations
Good call on the Big Blue or the main chains Ibis etc Avoid ALL of the Brittania hotels Norbreck etc they’re vile . Stayed at the Norbreck last yr 2 nights and it was feckin awful you’d be better off under the pier . Coming down for breakfast ( the only day we did) you had to pass a very wide corridor leading to some conference type room which has bags of rotten food spilling all over emitting an aroma that any tramp would be proud of .

I live not far and am shocked at the state of the Norbreck Castle. It gets worse every year and never gets updated. Plus at the moment I have heard of lots of complaints regards guests getting parking tickets although staying there. Supposedly Brittania have sold the car park to parking company. Roger Eli recently tweeted he had a fine there too.

I think his bad review was in part down to the fact she turned up with the kids he didn’t know she hadLocal cricketer wrote:Did he pay for the privilege or was she married?

Re: Blackpool hotel recommendations
Thanks for all the suggestions, went for a 2 bedroom s/c apartment in Bispham in the end. £240 for two nights, tram ride to the pleasure beach but looks nice with great reviews.
Re: Blackpool hotel recommendations
If you're planning to take the kids to the Sandcastle I recommend
1. Getting there as it opens and
2. Booking tickets online beforehand, it will save you a half/hour wait to get in, and you'll be able to go on the best rides and then you'll be ready to leave before it gets too busy.

Re: Blackpool hotel recommendations
Just stayed at the Travel Lodge at South Shore for the weekend as the missus booked loads of bits to do with some Tesco vouchers she had. Did the Pleasure Beach, Zoo, Circus, Tussauds and Sea Life and it cost about £5 after using the vouchers, so if you/anyone you know has any spare lying around they’ll come in handy. The Travel Lodge seemed to have some constant offers on for drinks in the bar too and there were shops down the road for any bits needed.
The Travel Lodge we stayed in was across the road from Blackpool’s ground and an easy enough walk to anywhere on the main patch. Think we paid about £160 for Fri-Mon and breakfast was £9 each (eat as much as you want and kids free). Definitely recommend that place as you know what you’re getting when it’s a Prem Inn/Travel Lodge. A nice clean room and a decent shower/bath.

I stayed at the Savoy in Blackpool 2 years ago. It was utterly disgusting in every respect.

Is that the hotel attached to the ground?ClaretTony wrote:Hotel Oyston
There is a Travel Lodge on the other side from the ground and I’ve no idea if it’s Oystons or not but comparing it to a lot of the comments on here, we made a great choice haha.

Re: Blackpool hotel recommendations
The last time I stayed in Blackpool with a group (around 20 years ago as I daren't go back) we had self catering apartments at the Bispham end. We had double beds falling out of wardrobes and all sorts.Bertiebeehead wrote:Thanks for all the suggestions, went for a 2 bedroom s/c apartment in Bispham in the end. £240 for two nights, tram ride to the pleasure beach but looks nice with great reviews.
If you have to go there you need to bale out before dark.

The football clubs hotel is really nice, modern and clean. Have your breakfast overlooking the pitch and very handy for everything, plus if your going mainly to central pier free car parking.

Last time I was on the tram the conductor announced the stop for Norbreck as 'Fawlty Towers'.

I stayed there, very impressed. Definitely one of the best hotels in Blackpool, though I appreciate the bar isn't set very high.s6t9a2f3f wrote:The football clubs hotel is really nice, modern and clean. I did stay in a boutique style hotel in Cleveleys which was good, but overpriced. Can't recall the name.

Re: Blackpool hotel recommendations
Last time i stayed in Blackpool was the same time Rangers were in manchester for the UEFA Final
I stayed at Patey's B&B which was very nice and great value (I seem to remember he put me in a Double for the single rate)
Is he still posting on here? I remember Snr and Junior used to be on the board previously

You could have bought Blackpool's Club last season with Tesco vouchers worth £60bfccrazy wrote:Just stayed at the Travel Lodge at South Shore for the weekend as the missus booked loads of bits to do with some Tesco vouchers she had. Norbreck Castle is a complete shithole and has been for a few years now! Avoid the place. Pay a bit more and try The Dalmeny or The St. Ives up at St Anne’s. Only a bus ride into Blackpool and fantastic facilities for both adults and children alike.
