Pope 8 Made vital early save that might have changed the game and much better distribution
Lowton 7
Mee 7
Tarks 7
Pieters 9 Polar opposite of last week.Outstanding
Hendrick 9 Was involved all over the pitch.Odd small mistake but gives us much better balance than Lennon
Cork 7
Westwood 8 inc 1 for corner
Mcneil 8 back to his best and worked so hard
Barnes 7 did well after horrible looking injury
Wood 9 MOM welcome back @ great finishes and worked so hard.

Won the game in first 20 mins then managed the other 70 mins with ease. Some very good signs today.

Pope 7 - Solid, made a good stop with the 1 vs 1 first half, other than that not a great deal to do.
Lowton - 7 - Decent
Pieters - 7 - Look solid defensively, but coming forward it was strange seeing how he wouldn't push into the space ahead of him.
Tarks - 8 - Mistake first half that could have been costly, but other than that very solid. Couple of very good tackles.
Mee - 8 - Good game, never really looked in trouble once.
McNeill - 9 - Looked on form today very good going both ways, his passing is sublime and his strength has improved massively.
Westwood -8 - Everywhere, never stopped running, broke up their play a number of times.
Cork - 8 - Similar to Westwood, put himself about well.
Hendrick - 9 - Best game I have seen him have for a while. First 20 minutes he was brilliant.Worked hard all game.
Barnes - 7 - Just wasn't coming off for him today and the ref wasn't giving him anything.
Wood - 9 - Missed one sitter, but took his chances well also ran the channels all game and held up the ball well. Impressive.

Pope 8. Made a good save and very safe today.

Lowton 8 very good compared to usual.

Tarkowski 7

Mee 7

Pieters 9. Absolutely superb. At both ends and on and off the ball.

Hendrick 9. One of his best games for us. Deserved a goal.

Cork 8 played very well first half especially.

Westwood 8 see cork.

McNeil 7

Wood 9. Had a great game. Not only for his well taken goals. Kept his head up after a tough start to the season. Glad for him.

Barnes 8 worked hard and took a knock but cracked on. The left foot volley he took wouldve been an incredible finish.

Pope 7 - good early save from Pukki. Good concentration levels second half and some decent distribution.

Lowton 7 - solid at the back, decent enough going forward.

Tarkowski 7 - sloppy until we scored, absolutely fine after that.

Mee 8 - at it from minute one. Excellent display.

Pieters 8* - thought he was super. Really strong at the back, good outlet going forward though his final ball isn’t as good as Taylor.

Hendrick 7 - thought he was good but there wasn’t an end product to really elevate him towards the 8s and 9s. Worked tirelessly, some good defensive work but the “Burnley fans love a runner” phrase in full flow today.

Cork 7 - solid midfield performance.

Westwood 8 - hassled and harried all game. The odd wayward pass but far more good than bad.

McNeil 8 - end product! Thought he was super first and capped it off with an assist.

Barnes 7 - should have had a pen. Linked well with Wood.

Wood 8 - off and running. Two typical Wood goals. Stronger hold up play too.

Totally deserved. Norwich disrespected us from minute one and got everything they deserved.

Has there ever been a game where our biggest threat came from the opposition goal kicks?

Simply overpowered them and they played into our hands. Their attackers will struggle with Premier League defences and I fear they don’t have the quality behind them to cope. It could be a long season for Norwich, but not for us.

Very solid, almost a complete team performance as we took the game to them from the 1st minute and then managed the game very comfortably indeed.

We are a very good side when we turn up like that, and its nice to see.

Pope 7 great save first half, untroubled by anything else.

Lowton 8 defended well today and his distribution was very good.

Tarkowski 7 started off a little bit sloppy giving the ball away a couple of times, once he settled down, was untroubled.

Mee 8 Solid performance with a no nonsense getting rid of the ball attitude.

Pieters 7 Steady as, rarely troubled, not much going forward, but with McNeil playing so well in front of him, not so much of an issue.

Hendrick 8 a performance full of energy and desire, kept going for the full 90 as well, one or two moments were he gets himself into trouble, but definitely one of his best games in a Burnley shirt.

Westwood 8 another hard working performance, does the dirty work well and moves the ball quicker, a few poor corners which didn’t beat the first man and a poor free kick, cost him an extra mark.

Cork 6 seems churlish in such a dominant performance to give a six, in comparison to westwood, looked off the pace and was fairly anonymous.

McNeil 8 caused problems, you know this because Norwich tried to kick him off the pitch, worked hard and great assist for the second Wood goal.

Barnes 7 usual nuisance self today couple of half chances today, but definitely second fiddle to Wood.

Wood 9 two good goals and looked strong and up for it, was more Ashley than Ashley, put himself about and pressed and worked. Same every week please Chris

If you ever want to know about fans favourites and lopsided opinions (compared to reality) look at Barnes ratings today compared to Wood in every other game this season.

If wood played like Barnes did today there would be clamour to drop him for not scoring and host of 5s

Games like today against a newly promoted team (on the back of beating the champions) are where you pinch yourself and think that this Burnley side are genuine premier league quality. Tbh they have shown lots of that this season already. We belong at this level under this great manager.

As I said pre kick off Norwich would find Burnley a completely different animal to last Saturday and Man Citeh, and so it came to pass. We bullied them for the 1st half and before they knew what was happening they were 2-0 down.

looked like we could have had more, they looked like their only chance of scoring was if we messed it up. Which we nearly did on a couple of occasions.

Wood mom, not just for his goals, but his all round game leading the line. I thought Pieters was excellent, and on any other day could easily have won it. Hendrick outstanding, and a special mention for Cork, who I always see as our weak link, but he had a great game today.

There'll be harder games ahead than Norwich, but it was a really good, professional performance.

Very very good performance. Hardly anything to criticise during the 90 minutes.

Pope - 8 - Kept quiet but a vital save at 0-0
Lowton - 7 - Solid and attacked well
Tarks - 7 - Would have been an 8 but for presenting Norwich with their only real chance
Mee - 8 - Didn't put a foot wrong
Pieters - 8 - Can’t ask for more, attacked more than usual too
Hendrick - 8 - Carried the ball well
Cork - 8 - Did some great work off the ball and some vital interceptions
Westwood - 8 - Pressed brilliantly and some good deliveries
McNeill - 7 - Quiet at times but a very good assist
Barnes - 7 - Didn’t quite come off for him but some very nice link ups
Wood - 9 - Obviously marked up for his two excellent finishes but his all round game was fantastic

Pope 7 great early save from back pass ,untroubled after
Lowton - 7 steady and combined with Hendrick
Pieters - 7 solid clever defender so so delivery
Tarks - 7 steady after the odd wobble
Mee - 7 steady
McNeill - 8 some lovely touches and cross for goal
Westwood - 8 midfield dynamo today
Cork - 7 grafted but seems low on confidence
Hendrick - 8 ran hard best game for Burnley
Barnes - 6 struggled I thought
Wood - 9 took the goals well and good all round

Lennon - 6 ran around 1 very good tackle
Jay - 6 As usual barely anything to feed off

A steady show against a lively but lightweight outfit . We took our chances well but Krull didn’t have a meaningful save to make

Very impressive win today.

Pope 7 No much to do.
Lowton - 8 Acres of space in front of him and he got in loads of crosses.
Pieters - 8 Solid and strong.
Tarks - 7 Decent game
Mee - 7 Still re-living that Liverpool mistake in his mind IMHO. Just seems a tad nervous with ball at feet.
McNeill - 7 Came in for some stick today from them. Great cross for 2nd.
Westwood - 7 Terried like in the middle of the park
Cork - 8 Getting back to his best. Worked his socks off today
Hendrick - 8 MOM So nice to see Jeff get a standing ovation from the crowd. Well deserved.
Barnes - 7 Not quite at his best.
Wood - 8 2 goals. What more can you say.

Lennon - 6 Two super tackles on the edge of our box late on.
Jay - 6 Closed the game out at the end.

Pope 8 (Got Tarky out of the sh*t and stopped Norwich taking an undeserved lead)
Lowton 7
Tarks 8
Mee 8
Pieters 8 (excellent defensively)
Cork 7
Westwood 7 (-1 for 2 absolutely awful second half corners which didn't get over the first man, making the one which we scored from early on look a fluke!!)
Hendrick 8 (-1 for fading after about 55 minutes, but first half dynamite!)
McNeil 8 (too good and too tricky for that lot)
Barnes 8
Wood 7 (2 really well taken goals, but I don't see these other things everyone is raving about. I see a slow, cumbersome chap lurching about, struggling to control a ball and invariably losing it. Anyway, +1 for no(?) offsides today!! Progress!!!

Subs N/A BUT at least we made them and IMO today SD got it about right, both in terms of timing and personnel.

Just for once a game kind of looked like I expected. Norwich are poor defensively and we absolutely battered them and were deservedly 2 up in a short time. They had "after the Lord Mayor's show" written all over them, so it was definitely a good time to play them. But beyond that they have committed the cardinal sin of not making the defense really, really hard to score against, before you ever even THINK about what you're doing up front, and in that respect they reminded me of Fulham last year and we all know how that ended! All credit to Norwich in that Delia is trying to do things the right way on something of a shoestring, but without a smattering of (cheap) experienced PL players you're always going to be up against it. We showed them what PL football is really about outside the top 6 over 38 games. It's about being micro organised and being tight, getting your nose in front, then being even tighter and "managing" a game. That meant the second half was pretty dire tbh, but if we get 3 points, nobody really remembers. UTC

Pope - 7 - Good early save to keep the scores level, and quickly off his line a couple of times in the second half to close off through balls. He handled well in the second half when required but in truth he was well screened and never really tested.

Lowton - 7 - A very solid afternoon's work. Tidy going forwards, tidy defensively.

Pieters - 8 - An excellent afternoon's work. Tidy enough going forwards, but tremendously assured defensively - particularly in the second half when he had a bit of one v one defending to do, and did it superbly.

Tarkowski - 7 -Had Pukki in his pocket, but he had a couple of casual moments - most obviously early on when his careless lapse let Pukki in.

Mee - 7 - Generally pretty assured.

Cork - 8 - Close to his best form - scrapping, pressing high, using the ball efficiently - and patiently, probing for an opening rather than rushing.

Westwood - 7 - A bit too quick to launch the ball at times, especially earlier on, but gradually followed the example of his midfield colleagues and opted for the more patient approach, which played to his strengths. Another who pressed superbly.

Hendrick - 9 - this is not a surprise because he's been playing in a similar vein all year, but this was superb. Led the press from the first minute, used the ball well, provided terrific movement across the midfield line, and gave us legs on the counter attack. Dispossessed a couple of times unnecessarily in the first half, but they were the only blemishes on a superb days work.

McNeill - 8 - A glorious assist in the first half, and almost an even better one in the second half when Wood shot straight at the keeper, and some of his passing and prompting was delightful at times. Did his bit to press too, even though it's not his natural skill set.

Barnes - 7 - Pressed relentlessly and showed some very nice touches when holding the ball up, even if it wasn't really his day in the penalty area.

Wood - 9 - A handful all day, with two excellent poachers goals, and a willingness to run the channels and bully the two centre halves.

An excellent afternoon's work. Firstly, huge credit to Dyche for a tactical and organisational masterclass - the high press was a tactic that paid huge dividends, but only because it was executed brilliantly by the players and coaching staff. Norwich had no answer to it and as a result the first 20 minutes was played almost exclusively in the last 30 yards of the pitch - with only a couple of Burnley errors giving Norwich a sniff.

Understandably, our intensity dropped a little bit after the break, but it was still pretty ferocious, and it was particularly pleasing to see us using the ball so patiently in the second half - ironically, there were some restless noises from the crowd who wanted us to get on with charging forwards, but the players were smart enough to work out that if they kept the ball, allowed the midfield 4 to interchange, and drew Norwich onto them, huge spaces would open up. So it proved, and it's a long time since we've opened a team up so frequently with such a patient build up, as we did in the second half.

Fair enough, Norwich were poor (hard to believe they beat City last season being so lightweight in attach and chaotic in defence, but there we are), but we were excellent. Particular shout outs to Hendrick (who was outstanding), Pieters who looked every inch a Premier League left back - and of course Wood, who proved a few doubters wrong yet again.

Sean Dyche & Burnley's coaching/analysis team - 10. They will have watched the Man City game last week along with some of Norwich's other games and their tactics in the 1st half hour of the game (especially) were spot on. Playing a high press, their did not give Norwich a moment's peace. Made it hard for them and broke up their approach to passing the ball out from the defence. We outmuscled Norwich in the 1st half especially and then opened up spaces as the game got stretched in the 2nd half. A very comfortable 2-0 win in the end, it should have been a lot more - but I'm not complaining. Up the Clarets!

Excellent team display. Tenacious pressing and tackling, pacey and positive passing, good movement and the enthusiasm and team spirit was fantastic.

There was a good zip to our passing today confidence looked high back 5 looked solid as per Pieters in particular he used the ball well also. Midfield battled and closed down everything especially Westwood who seemed to be everywhere made some nice passes and kept trying to spread play quickly. Hendrick had a good game and was able to hold onto the ball well high up the pitch allowing us more time in our attacking play. Nice to see Wood score I was just saying mabe it was time to start Jayrod... I was happy to be proven wrong. Very enjoyable game today UTC!

Excellent performance and we simply blew them away in the opening 15 minutes with our pressing and some fantastic football. Only complaint is we didn’t win by more!

Tactical masterclass, by Dyche and his management team, delivered via an excellent performance. The only real chances they had was through our sloppiness.
