Jeff Hendrick

Post by Tricky Trevor » Tue Oct 15, 2019 10:18 pm

Had an excellent game in a losing cause for RoI tonight.
Covered every blade of grass in his best position. The one he played at Derby but very rarely gets used in for us. That is not a pop at management just the nature of the beast.

His work rate was immense. Thought he was neat and tidy and his pass completion really high. Lets hope he is not too exhausted for Saturday. Having a good season !!

Looking good for the ‘first name on the team sheet’ lately. Having a great season now he is not being played out of position.

I didn't watch the game; is it a similar role to the one he played when we switched it up to a 4-3-3 vs Villa?

Liam Brady was a guest watching the game on irish tv.

You do realise after he signs a new contract he won't perform as good right?

No criticism of Hendrick himself, but just the way it seems to be.

Think that's the same with most footballers to be honest, even more so when he could have been potentially taking a massive wage reduction or dropping down in standard ( bases on last years performance)

If he couldn't/ didn't up his game this year then he never will have.

Probably his last chance of big contract if he gets one, he has given himself the best chance and most leverage possible with this seasons efforts.

Well done Jeff, If he can keep it up, I hope it's got him a deal he wanted

He was excellent and as mentioned covered every blade. He's not flashy, but he worked his socks off and kept breaking up play defensively and pushing them forward in attack. It didn't make good watching tbh as I was dreading him getting injured and I kept looking at the ceaseless running he was doing and thinking this guy has a really tough match coming up on Saturday, and it's now Tuesday!!

I just hope we can sign him up.

But I suspect he's waiting till his contract runs out.

But he was great last year, and he's been great so far this year.

Great player? Thank God your team is in Scotland now if he's first name on.

He's been good this season for us, a big improvement and let's hope he keeps it up. He has tried influencing games a lot more which is what he needs he has shied away from in the past.

Yes a great player he is,and a integral part of the team that keeps surviving in the Premier league,I back our players not diss them.

I thought he had a decent game TBH. Very fit player so I have no doubts he'll be ready for Saturday. One thing I did feel though was that we do have slightly better players in most positions at Burnley. Not a dig at the Irish but just an observation.
Was very impressed with the Swiss player Embolo. Not sure where he plays his football but a very decent and powerful player.

Very noble of you, we have wide differences in the word 'Great' for describing a player.

I need to stop taking part on Jeff Hendrick threads as some people go way overboard at both ends of the spectrum, I suspect it's to get one over on the others.

Glad you like him.

I don't not like him, he just frustrates the hell out of me.

I want him to do brilliant everytime he puts the Claret shirt on. But he hasn't on too many occasions.

Hendrick lost possession and misplaced passes on numerous occasions.
Showed good energy .... but very little technical ability.
Agreed in a very very poor team.

I really like him on the right though. Blocks up that side, while still contributing, which allows Dwight to be freer.

IMHO.

Never plays in his true position for us never moans gets on with it,hes a team player if he goes we are losing a vital member of our squad,I hope he signs a new contract to replace him is going to cost big bucks.

Some people have had a downer on him for a long time Steve, which is a shame because although there was a time when he was 'poor' it was down to him playing in that awful number 10 position which wasn't his game at all. He has been exceptional this season and for much of last after he escaped the 'out of position' situation. I like him and I hope he signs a new contract and soon. We would be all the worse without him. He reminds me of George Boyd for his work rate (okay maybe not quite because Boydy probably worked harder than any player I have ever seen in a Claret shirt) but he has more skill.

Jeff got canned on most Irish sites and to be honest i don't think he did much at all in the game .
Ohhh Ireland were muck in their last two games and i cant see how they will beat the Danes in the last game .
