This week, Leeds United become 100!

Post by jdrobbo » Wed Oct 16, 2019 7:14 am

A big week for all at Elland Road. I thought it’d be nice for us to have a thread where we share our thoughts and well-wishes on this hugely historic side. Please find my personal thoughts below.

Never heard of them before “show me the money” took over and put together the evilest team in history. Hopefully we’ll never hear of them again.

I'd rather play Leeds than Bournemouth or Watford. But that's about it, not too fussed about them although the 70s was before my time.

The longer Leeds stay in the Division below us, the better.

They were looking as strong as this, this time last year. They learned last term that there’s many a slip twixt cup an lip. Same again, please.

Hope you're right. I think it was harder for them to stay down last season!

Aye they seemed to have it in the bag last year at one point. Seems to be more competition this time around. Nketiah looks a good goalscorer and looks to be their biggest chance of actually doing it this year if he stays fit and in form.

I care Boss. All football clubs are created equal but Leeds are more equal than others (to paraphrase George Orwell). Fabulous team/great ground/friendly supporters - a great blueprint for any small club with aspirations to be 'massive'. I wish we could be more like them. If you lived any closer wouldn't you be one of them mate?

I wish Leeds and Brighton all the best for the season. :o :o :o :o :o

Leeds are the championship next Derby. They just can't make that step up into the Premier league, little like PNE back in 00s

No wonder their fans think they are the biggest club in the world, why bother about leeds, i'm fairly sure we will not get too many mentions on their
website without playing them!

I dislike Leeds, for the obvious reasons, but also they inevitably seem to provoke the kind of "big club like Leeds should be in the prem" statements which inevitably seem to end with "unlike Burnley etc"

Very close to the right answer.

Correct answer?

Going for their 100th owner. Evidently 3 groups in the running to buy!

No mistake about it, if they come up they would be a massive challenger back at this level.

They have a good manager, huge fanbase, money (and will have much more if they come up) and a great academy.

The fact they have a thread on here shows how relevant they are. As much as people hate to admit it, they are easily one of the biggest clubs in this country and potentially if they got their house in order in Europe.

If they come up they will stay up and push on.

At least there is always an atmosphere and a competitive edge to games with them. Would much sooner play Leeds than Brighton.

Leeds is a big city in the middle of nowhere and only one team. Their gates reflect this and no more. Staying in the lower leagues sort of reflects how good they are. Long may it continue.

Happy Birthday Leeds United. Fantastic club in a fantastic city who should be with us in the top league where they belong. You can only read into the hateful comments about them on this forum as a touch of jealousy mixed in with a dollop of respectful admiration

A Trophy Haul it too dissimilar to pre-Arab Investment Manchester City. Good, but not great.
Their ten year period of dominance between ‘64 and ‘74 should have garnered more silverware, but they were Bridesmaids too often.
A surprise Championship in the early ‘90s was a blip in an otherwise downward trajectory. They’ve spent 16 years continuously out of the Top Flight; some of that in the 3rd Tier. In that time their ground, whilst still big, has become a bit of a sh1t-hole, desperately in need of renovation.
That doesn’t happen to ‘Big Clubs’.

What better way to commemorate the spirit of Leeds United Football Club?

Fair play to Birmingham fans for joining in the true spirit of the festivities.
