Re: Jeff Hendrick in talks about contract extension....
Good news - lets hope it's sorted soon as I am sure quite a lot of the bottom half of this league and the top of the one below would be eyeing him up from January.
Having his best run of form in a Burnley shirt, for me.

Re: Jeff Hendrick in talks about contract extension....
It would be a very sound bit of business if we can tie him down to another 3 seasons.
Re: Jeff Hendrick in talks about contract extension....
Dyche said as much last week.
Probably bit of cat and mouse being played at the moment, but sounds like it's just a matter of time.
Just hope once its signed his form continues.
Theres many a player been able to perform when playing for a future, but easily fall out of form once their future is secured.

Re: Jeff Hendrick in talks about contract extension....
Was it Malcolm Smith who scored loads of goals when on loan and then very few after he signed?

I really like him shoring up that right side of midfield. And although he's not really a wide player he has a decent impact because he gets in the box like a third striker at times.

Good news, hes been excellent this season and chipped in with some vital goals.
I don't understand the antipathy in some fans comments towards him.

Re: Jeff Hendrick in talks about contract extension....
Is perfect on the right. Many a time in the RB position he takes the ball off the opposition, as against just getting a tackle in. I’m sure he could fill in at RB, in emergency, and not let us down.
Get the deal done.

If Jeff Hendrick was the sort of player who only turned it on when there was a contract on the line, Dyche wouldn't be entertaining giving him a new contract.MACCA wrote:Dyche said as much last week.

Good player, playing well, coming into his prime. He'd be a huge loss if we lost him for free next summer.

Lets hope his new contract performances mirrors that of the last seasons ones, as they've certainly been consistently good.claretspice wrote:If Jeff Hendrick was the sort of player who only turned it on when there was a contract on the line, Dyche wouldn't be entertaining giving him a new contract.

He's been here 4 seasons now hasn't he?
Think even his biggest fan can't claim he's had 4 glorious years.
Hoping he continues his recent displays once its signed

Adebayor had 2 loan spells in his whole career. Both whilst at City....the 1st to Real Madrid who didnt sign him and the second to Spurs who signed him on loan with the agreement to a permenant transfer before he kicked a ballcockneyclaret wrote:Like adebayor.. amazing on loan then a club signs him ft he's awful lol

Re: Jeff Hendrick in talks about contract extension....
I like Jeff, he might not be 1st choice in any position, however we have consistently shown that we struggle to recruit quality back-up for either the wings or the central midfield positions, so a new contract for Jeff would seem to be common sense really.
2 years with an option of a 3rd in the club's favour would feel about right.

Re: Jeff Hendrick in talks about contract extension....
Yes, he looked a cracking player when on loan, turning the CH then having a shot from anywhere up to 25 yards, then he signed permanently & nowt!Hipper wrote:Was it Malcolm Smith who scored loads of goals when on loan and then very few after he signed?

Re: Jeff Hendrick in talks about contract extension....
I too think Jeff is well worth another 2-3 years- despite never being his biggest fan.
I actually think he has done a great job on the right and like another poster said, gets up the field to support the strikers, getting himself on the score sheet. Our strikers over the last few season have shown that they are capable of scoring 10 plus each (Barnes and Wood) it's the goals from elsewhere we have lacked. With the emergence or McNeil and Jeff getting a couple already it looks like we are bucking this trend which is a positive sign. We are deploying Ben Mee as a pivotal point of set pieces, how often is he picked out at the back post to head back across the goal, can only think we have worked on this in training. If Mee or Tarks start getting the odd assist or goal then we have literally started adding goals everywhere without actually changing too much.
Its all in the fine margins.

Here we are established in the premier league trying to improve on our existing group of players and mouth watering over the prospect that Jeff Hendrick signs a new deal.

Re: Jeff Hendrick in talks about contract extension....
We have a shortage of bodies in midfield - especially the box to box, non-stop effort type player we demand. Even if there were a number of affordable quality midfielders around who were within our budget and met SD's strict character, wage and fitness criteria (and we show few signs of having found any recently) then we would still be offering Hendrick another contract. He is that good.superdimitri wrote:Here we are established in the premier league trying to improve on our existing group of players and mouth watering over the prospect that Jeff Hendrick signs a new deal.

Re: Jeff Hendrick in talks about contract extension....
It's all about the wage structure. If we could get 2 decent years out of JH we'd be daft not to keep him.superdimitri wrote:Here we are established in the premier league trying to improve on our existing group of players and mouth watering over the prospect that Jeff Hendrick signs a new deal.

And he's been one of our best players this season, and the second half of last year.superdimitri wrote:Here we are established in the premier league trying to improve on our existing group of players and mouth watering over the prospect that Jeff Hendrick signs a new deal.
Re: Jeff Hendrick in talks about contract extension....
For me, Jeff is as good as either of our other two central midfielders.
Whilst I would like to see someone come in who has more attributes than any of them all (pace, strength in tackle, height and ball retention abilities) our recruitment process, so far, has failed to deliver any such person in this key area.
Jeff is also younger than the other two and so getting him to sign a further deal plus adding real potential quality as outlined above in Jan or the summer would be good business
