The difference between hoofball and football
there for all to see today, dreadful first half when we just hoof it
very good second half once we got the ball down and played
We are a match for most teams outside the big few in this league when we play it on the floor

Re: The difference between hoofball and football
Not that I know anything about football, but the first half we had to soak up their enthusiasm and pressure which we did so well, and also created opportunities cutting them open a few times albeit not resulting in attempts at goal, but the signs were there.
Second half they lost a yard of pace enabling us to play more and get more into the game and it showed. Top 6 teams have been doing that for years...

Was that part of the game plan though? Stay strong, reduce the chances of turnovers and get to half time. Then turn the screw in the second half? We are not going to outplay many teams for 90mins at this level.
I actually feel we've been back to our best in terms of mixing the play. Largely helped by McNeil.

defending well doesn't mean you have to hoof it !!Rick_Muller wrote:Not that I know anything about football, but the first half we had to soak up their enthusiasm and pressure which we did so well, and also created opportunities cutting them open a few times albeit not resulting in attempts at goal, but the signs were there.

Is that top 6 a prediction ?
Re: The difference between hoofball and football
We mix it up pretty much every game. The only real difference between hoofball and football is Vegas thinks we’re playing hoofball when it doesn’t work, and football when it does.

There's definitely a case for going direct and long especially away from home in the first half. That style of play is crucial to our shape, organisation and why we've been so successful under Dyche. It can obviously be unattractive to watch but it gets the results we need.

We barely played it on the floor and scored 3 set pieces . They have some quality but didn’t like it up em. Job done though let’s not forget they’re stone bottom

We defended the best we have all season long excellent from our defenders proud as you can be with us soaking up so much pressure
Then they just wilted and ran out of Steam and we punished them good and proper
Brilliant away win

Re: The difference between hoofball and football
so you think booting the ball to Ben Foster as opposed to stringing 10 passes together is the same ? andGreenmile wrote:We mix it up pretty much every game. The only real difference between hoofball and football is Vegas thinks we’re playing hoofball when it doesn’t work, and football when it does.

The difference between Hoofball and Football is one letter m8....
Swap the "h" for "t" and the direction of the foot and hoof and there you have it toofball (Football) and foohball (Hoofball) simples

Do you think all we did first half was boot it to Foster, and all we did second half was string passes together?

We give teams a game and they have to work hard to beat us.
I don't give two f**ks what other teams, managers or pundits think about us, and long may it continue!

Dawson dealt with everything in the first half. The game changed when he went off.

Re: The difference between hoofball and football
absolutely not and that's not what I said nor am I saying we didn't defend well (we were immense) - Jay nearly scored from a Pope hoof. I've not once said ever that we should just play the ball on the deck, all I have said is that we are a far better side and create better chances when we do play it on the deck.Greenmile wrote:No.

I'm very well aware you have to soak up pressure, I'm also very well aware you invite that pressure when you aimlessly give the ball away. I'll be surprised if Dyche doesn't say the same after the game

Re: The difference between hoofball and football
I don't think our style of play changed at all really, we just had more success in the second half.
I think generally we mix it up but today was certainly 80% hoofball. Very frustrating to watch but I don't mind if we're winning! Stunned we won that but Dyche is no mug.

We definitely had a lot more of the ball in the midfield in the second half when we took the lead and Watford opened up.Claretmatt4 wrote:I don't think our style of play changed at all really, we just had more success in the second half.
