Re: Second big screen
I (along with many thousand Claret fans) haven't seen a screen since it was in Cricketfield stand!
really think this could be sorted by now - but eh!
I understand they have the screen but can't decide where to put it.
Its not the most pressing thing at Turf Moor (actually - having no peas with a pie is! ) but with the likely frequent reference to VAR I think it is imperative that all spectators are equally informed!

I along many others in the Cricket field stand have a great view of the big screen!

Re: Second big screen
Seeing the corner edge of the screen, from an expensive seat is a serious issue, which needs sorting.

I believe the view of the big screens at Old Trafford & Anfield is pretty poor!

Re: Second big screen
With VAR now you need big screens to even have a slim chance of working out what is going on.ClaretTony wrote:They've got it right - no need for them

Re: Second big screen
Hasn’t the official line been ‘still deciding’ for about six months?
There’s only 2 corners empty, seems a long time to make a 50/50 call. Just buy another telly if you’re that bothered.

For the first time that I've noticed they did the VAR replay of the incident on Saturday after we'd been awarded the penalty.ClaretTony wrote:Hardly, it doesn't tell you anything.

Re: Second big screen
I’ve only seen that once before and that was in the last home game when they showed the VAR pic for the disallowed goal.aggi wrote:For the first time that I've noticed they did the VAR replay of the incident on Saturday after we'd been awarded the penalty.

Re: Second big screen
They showed Hudson-Odoi's dive for the overturned penalty but if you'd blinked you'd have missed it.

What was wrong with where they were going to put it, on the corner? Poor design and can’t take the weight?

Re: Second big screen
It can take the weight certainly - actually, big screens don't actually weigh as much as they used to.Claretforever wrote:What was wrong with where they were going to put it, on the corner? Poor design and can’t take the weight?
Re: Second big screen
They're going to do a pre-sale on anyone who is going to actually look at it, then determine whether or not to put it up.

Those at the back of the Bob Lord wouldn't be able to see either screen, even when they haven't nodded off!Claretforever wrote:What was wrong with where they were going to put it, on the corner? Poor design and can’t take the weight?

Re: Second big screen
I've heard they're stacking it directly on top of the existing one.
Re: Second big screen
Depends if Rigg can turn ewt up for us in the Black Friday sales
Re: Second big screen
Those at the back of the Bob Lord can only see the pitch can’t they. Any screen that they could see and wouldn’t block their view would have to be tiny.Fretters wrote:Those at the back of the Bob Lord wouldn't be able to see either screen, even when they haven't nodded off!
Re: Second big screen
I'm not sure to be honest, I thought they might be able to see one between the Longside and CF stand.martin_p wrote:Those at the back of the Bob Lord can only see the pitch can’t they. Any screen that they could see and wouldn’t block their view would have to be tiny.

They're having individual screens in the back of the seats in front like on an aircraft..martin_p wrote:Those at the back of the Bob Lord can only see the pitch can’t they. Any screen that they could see and wouldn’t block their view would have to be tiny.

Re: Second big screen
It is strangely easy to resolve:
1) 2nd screen on top of other disabled section
2) Panel screens or projector screens in roof cavity of bob lord to cover any punters who cant see either screen.
How is it difficult?
Thoughts from Claptrappers especially appreciated as he has something of an inside track. Im genuinely puzzled how its so slow of a process.

I'm all for tradition. Do away with the screen, bring back the touchline boards marked A, B, C, etc so we can put half time scores up and have the substitutes trained up to re-enact any VAR replays in front of the Bob Lord stand.
Sorted.

Lets hope Anthony Taylor does better than the usual VAR at Stockley Park
Re: Second big screen
Even better, get Baddiel and Skinner to do it like they used to on the telly.Claret wrote:I'm all for tradition. Re: Second big screen
The club reckon it'll get stolen if they put it where everyone can see it. I'll get me coat
Re: Second big screen
The best place to me in terms of %age of viewers would be front of the CFS roof - a la the original White Hart Lane. If only we had a few grand to achieve it.

Re: Second big screen
I don't know much more than you guys to be fair - in terms of definite plans anyway. It's changing all the time. I know it wasn't going to go on top of the new disabled section with the new police box - it'll look make the ground look cocked-eyed anyway, as that section is shorter than the other side. But even if they decided to put it up there, getting the steelwork and lifting it up would be a logistical nightmare now.ZizkovClaret wrote: Thoughts from Claptrappers especially appreciated as he has something of an inside track. With the other screen, it was built in the NE carpark and then Barnfield used a crane to lift it up. To put the new one on top of the new section it would mean building a giant television in the middle of Brunshaw Road - it's absolutely huge as well But like I say, it's not going up there anyway.
I do know some latest ideas - that haven't been suggested on here yet - but it's not up to me to say really. Even if I did share them though, I might be left with egg on my face

The best place would be on the roof of the second new development. More people would get the benefit although wherever they are situated some will struggle to see.newminted wrote:The best place to me in terms of %age of viewers would be front of the CFS roof - a la the original White Hart Lane. Re: Second big screen
Those at White Hart Lane were much higher than our cricket field stand. Screens behind a goal can be a horrible distraction as at Palace & West Ham.newminted wrote:The best place to me in terms of %age of viewers would be front of the CFS roof - a la the original White Hart Lane. Re: Second big screen
I've not been to West Ham but i"ve seen it on TV, and the size of it is insane. Also, there is a delay on the live feed by just a couple of seconds, that'll drive me mad.ClaretTony wrote:Those at White Hart Lane were much higher than our cricket field stand. They are so low too. If you are stood right behind the goal at the other end it can be really distracting.claptrappers_union wrote:I've not been to West Ham but i"ve seen it on TV, and the size of it is insane.
