Fair play to her. She's making more effort to do something about climate change than most of the worlds politicians.

Regardless of how she came about, what she says is spot on.

We've been told about climate change by scientists but take little notice. We've been told by David Attenborough but still nothing. Perhaps a 16 year old telling us may affect us differently. I hope so but won't hold my breath.

I don't know what control she has over her situation but she seems very bold and brave to do what she is doing whatever her age, and to do it at 16 is incredible.

I think she’s terrific. Millions and millions of young people will now be reading up about climate change, plastic pollution and the general waste of the World’s scarce resources. More importantly they are challenging why the older generations are doing f all about it.

When I was 16 I had a letter published on the front page of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph asking for a local skate park to be built.

She's similar to me in not being afraid to take responsibility and moral action.

I thought I bet she's a Capricorn.

Surely enough she was and only one day different to me.

She's a bit cabbage patch but anyone that age more or less looks attractive to the over 50s.

I wonder if... ;-)

Ageism, racism and an insult. How liberal of you. No wonder other liberally minded folk like it

I think the environment is very important but don’t care for the almost patronising disrespectful tone she uses. It’s a bit cringeworthy ( like Hague’s Tory Party speech as a teenager) and even a bit creepy imo.

Her heart is in the right place, bless her. I liked that she crossed the Atlantic in a boat rather than a plane (as per most "green" luvvies) but I think she's being a bit "used" by various factions. I hope she survives into adulthood with some equilibrium but that might be difficult.

Sorry, Blackrod, but I find the thought of someone like you being rattled by a teenage lass who has the gumption and the guts to embarrass the spivs and conmen who are supposed to be our leaders an extremely liberal thing.
You ought to look beyond the bias you've been encouraged to feel towards her and actually listen to what she says. It's quite telling that you almost cringe at her but not at, say, a powerful western leader who is completely in hock to his country's oil and coal industries.

totally agree Pies, easy target on social media sites and awful comedians on radio 4, but at 16 she has highlighted a massive topic and put most of the politicians to shame.

What's the connection to climate change?

This young woman is beating the drum, which is her perogative but she should tell her advisors to get their facts right. Businesses are doing a lot to go greener. She says they are not.

Has she been to China yet? The biggest emiiter of greenhouse gases in the world.

And she can get there on the train, so saving the emissions caused by flying her yacht captain across the Atlantic to ferry her about.

An aspiring young actress/activist.

Her UN address was excellent but given in such a way that instantly turns some against her because of the dramatic 'stage school' delivery.

I'm sure she is being manipulated for the right reasons but will split opinion.

A pity she doesn't tour Russia or the Southern Hemisphere places that are having a major impact on the planet.
