Second big screen
I may be going a bit senile in my dotage but in the back of my mind I have the impression that a second big screen was proposed for Turf Moor. Anybody any information on it? I assume it would go on the other corner stand.

There was no remote, but for only £200 you can't turn it down.

I sit near the press, at the top of JH Upper. and haven't noticed a big screen at all. Is there one somewhere?

Re: Second big screen
I bet they didn’t factor in the floodlight pylon at all, and with that going right through h the middle of the stand they have no space to put the screen up.
We have no grand plan at Burnley. Everything is done very piecemeal without any thought for future changes.

That’s is EXACTLY what happened and your observation is absolutely correct, it is how the club is run - that’s why we are in League 2

The screens at Tottenham were impressive.
Four of them, each the size of Turf Moor.

We're complete shite, clueless - can't even plan a second screen properly - even though there don't appear to have been any plans for a second screen.

The day I got to a game and get excited about a screen it's over......Sheffield Wednesday unveiled possibly the first one 50 years ago 'That' was impressive...considering we only bought one in recent years from Brighthouse on the Drip....dougcollins wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 5:24 pmThe screens at Tottenham were impressive.

Re: Second big screen
There is to be a second one. Although unsure when and where. Between Bob Lord and CFS is most logical. But surely better to flatten the CFS first.

I recon the second screen should be projected on the side of a dirigible that’s floating above the centre circle.

Re: Second big screen
They were planning on putting one up suspended on wires like at the Warsaw stadium and at Ice Hockey games but Dyche refused as he was worried it might interfere with the way we play.

I was at the England v Paraguay game in Frankfurt during WC2006, which had one of those screens dangling over the centre circle. Seem to recall Paul Robinson hitting it with a clearance...

Re: Second big screen
Was at a BFC Foundation Q&A with SD + Monsieur Garlick 18 months ago. Stated at the time by MG that 2nd screen was a definite, they just needed to make a decision where to locate it? The inability to organise a heavy drinking session in a brewery springs to mind.
Maybe this fictitious screen is in MG’s front room for his family Christmas viewing?

Well, we sat on the front row, and we wouldn't have been able to properly see the pounding we were getting without the screens.

The idea of a second screen went west when Peter Crouch left. No one in now tall enough to change channels

Couldn’t agree more, it must be why the gates are so low in none league football. File with the lack of phone signal to stare at your phone

Re: Second big screen
What would you like to see on the large screens during a match?
Personally, I would like to see other live match scores and the changing league positions.
Are there any other things that would enrichen your match day experience?

Re: Second big screen
The manager and players have had an input on what goes on the screen. I remember when we were fighting for the play-offs during the whole 'Dare to Dream' thing. The club instructed me to put the live scores up during play. Later, Owen Coyle asked us not to put them up anymore as it could affect the players.LoveCurryPies wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 9:25 amWhat would you like to see on the large screens during a match?

We used to show highlights of previous matches before kick-off - Brian Jensen asked us not to put him saving penalties in the highlight reel because of 'mind games' - then the coaches asked us not to include them when the players were out - as the videos were a distraction during warm-ups.

What you and Burnley1989 get up to in your spare time is your business, doesn't need to be shared on here. Even if you do have to tell him.

Putting the 09 season under Coyle highlights DVD on should just about cover 45mins to an hour.

Re: Second big screen
I'd be happy with just the teams and time.. I find myself glancing over to check who a certain opposition player is and mainly see adverts or birthday greetings.LoveCurryPies wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 9:25 amWhat would you like to see on the large screens during a match?

Re: Second big screen
I agree with that.
We do seem to show more adverts during the game than I’ve noticed at other grounds.
Re: Second big screen
Do we still have the adverts which show live football but from a different match earlier in the season (I think they were for Clarets Player or something)? That was annoying.
Teams and time with the occasional replay of a goal (both teams), good chance, etc plus any VAR footage they deign to show.

Re: Second big screen
I tend to be looking at the pitch than the bloody adverts ... its bad enough that bloody gambling adverts dog walking around the side of the pitch, and other assorted non relevant (to me) crap without looking at a huge tv in the corner too.
To me the big screen is there for replays of goals and now VAR not for bloody adverts grrrrr although I think you are right it seems to be used by BFC as an advertising medium than keeping fans informed.
