Martin Peters RIP

Post by Tricky Trevor » Sat Dec 21, 2019 5:13 pm

Sad to hear of the passing of another of our World Cup winners and a scorer.
Fabulous footballer, sadly, but ironically, known as the Ghost.
RIP Martin

This is very sad news.
Saw him play several times. And him and Nobby in the aftermath of '66 is something ingrained in my memory.

What a classy player saw him at the Turf on quite a few occasions as one post has said he was known as the ghost he drifted and wove I said to friends some time ago I look at Deli Ali in his Spurs shirt and I see Martin Peters, RIP a legend

5 of the team have passed away I was 10 years old on the day they won the World Cup .I always thought I would witness it again in my lifetime as every year passes it seems less likely

One of only 11 English players to be in the winning starting 11 in a World Cup final. One of only 2 to score in a final. Before my time but a legend without a doubt. RIP Martin Peters

Very sad news indeed. A marvellous player to watch. My first interest in football being the 1966 final. Three West Ham lads became my heroes. RIP Martin.

Just heard on the tele that he celebrated the world cup win with a brew with his wife, what a comparison to today's publicity junkies. RIP.
