Post by Safron » Thu Dec 26, 2019 5:42 pm

It was a tight game, where a moment of sloppiness cost us in the end,I can't fault the team for sticking to the gameplan :D

If you can't fault the team, then whom can you fault?

Thanks to a good keeper and a good defence. But not one shot on target? Thats one shot on target in the last two games.

Tactics are the same for most away games. Sit deep, keep it tight, try not to concede and hope to nick a goal on the break or from a set piece. The defensive side was largely executed well, but offensively we were really poor and, apart from a couple of half chances, never really looked like scoring. Sometimes it works like at Bournemouth and Watford and sometimes it doesn’t. Today was a tight game, Everton didn’t create many clear cut chances despite all their possession and, on another day, we could have easily nicked something. That said, when it doesn’t come off it is absolutely dire to watch.

Everton could have been 2 up at half time. It was only Pope who kept it at 0-0.

Did our 'gameplan' involve not passing to our own team? If so, it was an excellent execution.

Unfortunately when the game plan is to play for a point the inevitable happens. At Watford we also tried to attack and play some football hence the result. This negativity is shocking and has many have said is turning fans away

That's generally what goalkeepers are for to be fair.

I dont believe he said that, although I dont believe anything he says post match anyway, he see's a different game to me and most others win , lose or draw.

I dont think theres any managers that speak the sense or truth in these post match interviews

Yes he did ... but does it not count if the keeper makes a save? He kept us in it which made it a tight game.

Fair assessment. A bad pass was punished. Otherwise, defensively superb.

Were a team carrying many aging mid champ level players who while they give their all were literally hanging on by the skin of our balls even against sh1t teams. We desperately needed DD to come good and have been stuck with a slowing Cork, busy but no end product Westwood , a fading Brady/Lennon/ and the almost staggering mediocrity of the likes of Hendrick /Barnes and have performed about as expected imo . “ Just about holding our own but awful to see”

A couple of strong signings and we would be potential top 7.

Calm down.

Only 1800 at Everton on boxing day, didn't sell out at Bournemouth, in general away followings have been dropping big style. Home areas now often not sold out. If I was on the board I would be a little concerned. Of course they're not, as another 15 points or so would give them another £100 million.

0-1 = 0 goals for Burnley and 1 goal for Everton (from a Burnley fan's point of view)

Fine margins.Chris would have buried his header nine times out of ten
Normally Calvert Lewin would have missed as he usually does
We are looking tight in our away games
Now we need to see off Manure and Villa and match my prediction of 30pts by the 2nd Jan

Re away following .We wont go anymore due to persistent standing obstructing our view
The abuse we've had when asking fans to sit down is unacceptable as is the pxxs poor stewarding failing to endorce seating rules
We have watched every away game previously but not anymore till this issue gets sorted.

Is it not because the entertainment on offer is dire

True fans wont say things like that.

But you cant play the, Il"I have an obstructed view" card as a reason for not attending when in fact the obstruction probably is better viewing, with any little unrest or argument regards that is usually the only entertainment or passion on show...

It was bad enough watching it from the comfort of the pub yesterday. Feel sorry for anyone who gave up their Boxing day and spent good money to go and watch that yesterday.

It was not a tight game. But for Everton clearly needing to invest in a striker, they could and should have been 4 up at half time but for our excellent Nick Pope and their poor finishing
