100% a penalty, stonewaller, you can't stand on someone's foot - do you know the rules ?

For a start there are no rules, they are Laws of the game. The step on the foot was certainly not deliberate, therefore no foul!Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 8:12 pm100% a penalty, stonewaller, you can't stand on someone's foot - do you know the rules ?
**** poor decision and I can well and truly understand why Wolves supporters are aggrieved, I would be if that was awarded against us.

Re: Another VAR farce
If someone caught him like that in the street whilst shopping, I very much doubt
that he would even feel it, let alone go for artistic merit in a gymnastic move.

Re: Another VAR farce
Absolutely, that should have been a yellow for simulation, or as Dyche calls it 'cheating', and that is what it was, and VAR bought it; God help the game if this is the future.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 8:21 pmIf someone caght him like that in the street whilst shopping, I very much doubt

Re: Another VAR farce
Ex Claret Kightly is not a fan either.....
There was a City player encroaching as well. He was in front of the Wolves player who clears and it is just because he got there first. It had no relevance to where the penalty was going.
VAR has got to go

Re: Another VAR farce
Definitely a pen , as for Dyche banging on about diving being cheating , pity he doesn’t instruct his players to stop time wasting, which is cheating.

Re: Another VAR farce
It's killing the game, Atkinson got it right first time, apart from not issuing a yellow to the cheat

Re: Another VAR farce
I've noticed that this season he's actually added a bit of end product to his game as well.
(I don't know about this match because I'm not watching)

Re: Another VAR farce
Penalty for me.
Standing on someone's foot will always get given.
The encroaching will only get punished if the person clearing it or scoring a rebound is encroaching.
Thick as mince footballers again.
As a sidenote- never let Sterling take a penalty for England.

Re: Another VAR farce
you can use semantics all you want, you still don't know the laws of the game. A foul doesn't have to be deliberate to be given and never has been, the fact you think it does is rather comicalALP wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 8:15 pmFor a start there are no rules, they are Laws of the game. A free kick can only be awarded in the case of:Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 8:41 pmyou can use semantics all you want, you still don't know the laws of the game. A foul doesn't have to be deliberate to be given and never has been, the fact you think it does is rather comical
A direct free kick is awarded when a player commits any of the following in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force.
A running incident such as this, is certainly non of the above, and these would make this a deliberate act, and I do know the 'LAWS' not 'RULES' of the game, certainly more so than you seem to do.
Not as this game means a lot to me, but the whole of the game is being spoiled by these farcical decisions.

No problem with a retake for encroachment, but this was never a penalty.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 8:39 pm

Again, not sure why I'm so pee'd off about it, other than the dive, which was cheating.

Re: Another VAR farce
Someone on twitter came up with a good point. The attacking player has to go down to get VAR to look at it.
They practice going down. I still think it was a pen though.

Re: Another VAR farce
Something isn't right in the game, and as already said, if that was awarded against us I'd be furious. But it's Wolves v Citeh and I don't give a shite about eitherQuickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 9:19 pmSomeone on twitter came up with a good point. Re: Another VAR farce
Watching this game in the last 30 minutes or so has been like watching the Clarets with their backs to the wall, defending like the clappers and passing anywhere.
Good to see.

Or that’s what can happen if you spend 200m on a team of quality internationals which enable you to go toe to toe with 10 man Man CityFunkydrummer wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 8:35 pmYeah, it's white hot. That's what can happen when you play a bit of football.

Re: Another VAR farce
Just seen this. Is there contact? Yes, is it a foul? No. The defender accidentally stood on his foot, the city player went down clutching his knee. Simulating he’d been chopped down.

Re: Another VAR farce
Very similar to the penalty given against Michael Keane when Everton played at Brighton a few weeks ago and which cost Everton in the end.
VAR was criticised by the PGMOL after the event who said that it should not have been given. It appears that nothing has been learned from that experience.
Martin Atkinson treated it as a natural coming together when players are running. One player's foot coming down fractionally before the other player's and no intent to commit a foul, therefore, because of his vast experience in the game, he gave a goal kick, however, VAR shoved its nose in and, in spite of the events at Brighton, decided that it should be a penalty.
