Beat Villa, Wigan won the FA Cup and look at them now. In fact Id take a defeat against Villa if it guaranteed we wouldn't win the FA Cup

FA Cup all day long !
We'll still be OK even if we lose to Villa ... 5 wins and a draw from 17 games ( after Villa ) will get us to 40 points and safety ..

Re: Beat Villa or
Someone should go on the Wigan forum (if they still have one) and ask if they’d prefer to still be in the Premier League with no FA Cup win.
That would settle this argument once and for all.

Play flowing football in the FA Cup.......and possibly progress. Play tried and tested anti football against Villa and Win = 3points

Re: Beat Villa or
I've seen several posters say they'd take relegation for an FA Cup win - nevermind losing to Villa.
Re: Beat Villa or
FA Cup. It would be in the history books forever and a major achievement. Villa is one match. Not going to happen though. I expect we will capitulate as usual in the cup so we need to beat Villa and the games after are very difficult bearing in mind our one dimensional slow predictable play.

To put it another way -
Relegation or FA Cup? I’d take the FA Cup - no question.

Well I doubt ppl would opt for Relegation, so certainly FA Cup win out of that choiceclaptrappers_union wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 10:35 pmTo put it another way -

You can take away premier league status from anyone - Ask Leeds, Sheff Wednesday, Nottingham Forest etc. (None of them won The FA Cup around their relegation). But you can never take that honour away from them.

Re: Beat Villa or
Win a regular Premier League game or win the FA Cup? Is that a serious question?
Re: Beat Villa or
I suppose it's a matter of which would be more enjoyable - one more Premier League win, or 6 wins in the FA Cup and two days out at Wembley and a major Trophy and some more European games. Hmm, tricky.

You’re right, I messed that up. Let’s try againFactualFrank wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 10:44 pmWell I doubt ppl would opt for Relegation, so certainly FA Cup win out of that choice
To avoid relegation or Win the FA Cup?
I’d rather win the FA Cup.
Avoid Relegation or Win the FA Cup - with guaranteed relegation to League One in two years?
I’d still rather win the FA Cup (do a Wigan)
Qualify for Europa League again or lose in an FA Cup Final?
I’d still have the FA Cup... I’d rather have the League Cup over finishing 5th
I’d draw the line at Champions League, though I’d expect that’ll do us more harm than relegation in the long run
I just want a cup, we’re good enough to really go for a cup run

Re: Beat Villa or
You are guaranteed to play in the cup every year but you're never guaranteed premier league survival, for me it's easily to stay in the league. The longer we stay the sooner we will be more competitive in cups anyway.
I think cups are romanticised a little from the days when we relished playing a big premier league team. Now we are often the favorites and since we have already shown we can beat any good side on our day it's no fun any more.
Maybe a draw against Arsenal's or a local rival would be more interesting.
The road to Wembley means much more the further down the leagues you go.
Having said that, I don't agree with completely changing an entire team and I'm setting myself up for disappointment given I expect it will be another B team against Posh.
