MIGHTY CLARETS versus Tom Heaton's Fellows

Post by IanMcL » Wed Jan 01, 2020 9:50 am

A real clincher today with both teams looking for an upbeat, points grabbing start to the decade.

I am at Birch Travelodge, so shortly off to find breakfast and make the short leap to Burnley.

Madge is fired up early and ready to rally us all to victory. She also wishes everyone une bonne annee! (No accents on my phone)

Let's whack 'em 5-0!

Just setting off
Grealish the most fouled player in the league this season - cos he constantly dives
Hope Bards can keep his nerves and gives the little sh!t a good kicking - in the true manner of the game of course

Hope we go out and have a go at them,. similar to Utd second half. Villa's defense is there for the taking, but if we sit back and soak we are letting them play to their strengths.

Brady starting instead of Hendrick does suggest we're going to have a go. With Jay better for us coming off the bench, he's also a decent option in the second half.

Interesting to see Mings back for Villa, hopefully we can show the England camp how superior our centre-backs are!

Off course you are allowed to have a go at opposition players, it’s all part of the banter and build-up to the match. However it’s also fair to say he is their most dangerous attacking threat. He’s a very good player.
Is it his hairstyle or his small shin pads you object to? If so I agree that he is a bit of a poser, possibly.

Big game for both sides, looking at our upcoming fixtures we could really do with a win. Looks like Villa having a change in system with three centre backs today. UTC.

Seems like word has gone out. If you play with 3CB you are good for a result against Burnley.

Nothing, it's the militant pecking order Dyche sets... but I believe he can take a freekick and no doubt Barnes is on strict instructions to go to ground at every opportunity.

Well Barnes does that anyway, but potentially we're better with direct free kicks him in the team.

Personally I'd have Gudmundson in instead but no doubt he'll get his chance to make a difference if needed later on.

I can see us extending Drinkwaters loan if he's still sitting on the bench. Strange one.

Hi Hibs, does it matter who's in the studio doing the analysis? Does it matter to any of us whether the pundits are saying "Burnley were lucky to score then...." "and again....." "and that's another one Burnley have scored....."

Not about whether it matters...some would call it bad etiquette....others would call it bias...others would call it “we only want big clubs in the premier league” etc. It’s poor form tbh but not surprising..

We’re now having a pre game Grealishfest...

The summary from the co commentator on NBC is "Grealish has signed a new deal, more loyal to the club than McNeil and will demand a high fee".

Why does every press assortment de value McNeil so much? It's like they are trying to push down his sale price or something. He may not have a 5 year contract but he's 4 years younger... It makes no sense.

Let's hope he can show Grealish up today..
