Bardsley standing off Grealish almost exactly how he stood off Zaha when he scored for Palace. Lowton isn't any better but we really need a better right back.
Midfield more of an issue, Cork and Westwood really look off the pace.

That's the big takeaway from that half of football...superdimitri wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 1:18 pmCan someone explain why our shot outside the box was offside? Two players offside weren't interfering or blocking view or anything.

Not a manager who can get a team playing good football, regardless of funds IMO, but he knows how to get us out of the Championship - even with long ball / strength football. It works better in the Champ.Tread Warily wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 1:20 pmWe will soon be down in League 2 at his rate. The worst manager we have ever had.

Awful half. Gave away a poor goal which got chalked off by VAR on the finest offside margin (probably right though) and failed totally to react. Cork, Brady, Barnes, Wood, Mee have all been dreadful and you cant afford half uour aide to be off tje pace against anyone

I’d be bringing Cork off for Drinkwater while he’s at it.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Tom Heaton's Fellows
I don't know. It seemed harsh but then so did Wesley's and I don't mean because he was 0.00005mm offside. He sort of jumped at it but that was before Tarkowski had every chance to clear but cocked it up. I don't know why they rewound that far.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Tom Heaton's Fellows
An aging squad and tactics will eventually bite you. Several awful transfer windows and the manager's inability to inject pace and fresh ideas are coming home to roost. Unbelievably painful watching us at the moment.

Should have been questioned a long time ago, this is a guy who's tactics remain the same no matter who he brings into the 11....absolutely shocking and we are in freefall.
Who on earth would choose to come to us, given how he sets us upto play.

At least the 2 big lumps up front who, once again, have failed to muster a single effort on target have signed new deals.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Tom Heaton's Fellows
I've been saying it for ages our midfield is garbage and that includes everyone's favourite Westwood: our tactics are awful, we are totally one dimensional without technical skill or pace. That first half performance is a bad as it gets: we have been going backwards as a team for at least eighteen months. I said on here a while ago that if we got relegated I would want Dyche to stay as manager, I think I'm changing my mind.
And all the people on here laughing and joking about Grealish, you need to watch him playing today, the best footballer on the pitch.
Time for changes.

By far the worst 45 mins from a Burnley side in the Premier league

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Tom Heaton's Fellows
I think it's safe to say if Drinkwater doesn't get game time this second half then there is zero chance of him staying
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Tom Heaton's Fellows
If ever 45 minutes of football can define a managers lack if tactical ability this one has. Relegation is well and truly on the cards now

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Tom Heaton's Fellows
Grealish looks good because of how much time we give him on the ball. Shocking how easy he has had it. We used to give no one a second, now we stand off and the good players make us pay every single time.

Drinkwater will probably join Villa in January and boss the midfield until the end of the season highlighting Sean Dyche's deficiencies in getting the beat out of loan signings.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Tom Heaton's Fellows
The VAR team regarding the disallowed goal: "the defence didn't have a chance to reset".
This is exactly the same as Sheffield United.
When teams play with 3 centre backs our tactics just don't work. It's too hard for Barnes and Wood to pick up those balls into the channels and we just get pushed too far back.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Tom Heaton's Fellows
This is a damning stat.
Burnley have failed to net in the first half of any of their last nine Premier League matches, since Chris Wood scored in the 44th minute of a 3-0 home win versus West Ham United on 9 November.
Mind you what can you expect when we have no shots on goal.

Can Drinkwater come on, just for a laugh? He's got to be better even at 70% fit.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Tom Heaton's Fellows
We've played some good football under SD in the prem, and some great football in the Championship. This is the players fault. Flat, lack of confidence, lack of composure, lack of character, lack of pace. I can't see how SD can turn this, there are no options on the bench. The players need to react, but we've been saying the same for the last month and a half. We are in a relegation battle, that at the minute we look like losing.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 1:22 pmNot a manager who can get a team playing good football, regardless of funds IMO, but he knows how to get us out of the Championship - even with long ball / strength football. IF we get that low a lot of this team aren't upto the battle to get us back up again. We should blood some youngsters, and start rebuilding for the future. I hope its with SD, but I think this level of performance could lead him to walk.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Tom Heaton's Fellows
I can't see him walking with his contract and wage. He has no guarantee with what he's shown that any Prem team would want him - I don't think any would. Some top-end Championship clubs would want him, but doubtful they would pay close to what he's earning now. So I think money will talk with this one and he would take the board to sack him - which I can't see.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 1:35 pmWe've played some good football under SD in the prem, and some great football in the Championship. Another corner
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Tom Heaton's Fellows
How has that hand, blocking Jay's shot on goal not been given as a penalty? I appreciate it was completely accidental and he had no chance of getting his hand out of the way, but it stopped the shot on target? Genuine question, not sure of the rule.
