Robbie Brady
What is actually going on with him? He was pretty crap before his injury to be fair but now he’s a League One standard player. I was excited about the signing at the time but he’s been absolute tosh and it’s time to let him go. What was the fee again? £13m?

He MIGHT eventually come good next season if we’re in the Championship.
It’s a big MIGHT, though.

Remember when people were suggesting dropping McNeil for Brady? Incredible scenes

I think most of the players were scared to make an error which is not a good ingredient in football as the players should be able to play with a certain amount of freedom.KRBFC wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 4:01 pmWhat is actually going on with him? Can stay as back up when we’re in the championship but that’s about it
Re: Robbie Brady
Feel a bit sorry for the lad. Needs a run of games to get fit again but looks unlikely with McNeil here. This summer might be a good time for a fresh start somewhere with his best mate Hendrick likely leaving as well.

Re: Robbie Brady
Needs replacing. I have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but he has had numerous chances and shown absolutely nothing. Not even sure what his strengths are anymore. It's frustrating when you've paid £13m for someone but he has a decent name/rep so we might still get ok money for him.
Re: Robbie Brady
He offers nothing he has been pathetic since his knee injury, just watch him get offered a contract extension.

Re: Robbie Brady
Didn't play well today but didn't really get much of a chance either. We simply weren't at it in the first half and he never got the ball in the sort of positions he wants to receive it in. Had he played the first 15 minutes of the second half, when we got control of the game in midfield, we'd have had a better basis on which to judge him.

I imagine there is a player in there somewhere, just haven't seen it yet in a Burnley shirt (apart from his debut game).claretspice wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 4:16 pmDidn't play well today but didn't really get much of a chance either. Too many poor deliveries and often wasteful in possession.

Reactive to the ball, not proactive.. Far too casual/lackadaisical - generally just ****.

I guess he was in outstanding form back then if we are judging him on the Brady we see today, he was playing quite well but I’m not sure if he was ever outstanding.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 4:18 pmAnything but fair. He was in outstanding form when he got that injury at Leicester.
Re: Robbie Brady
He's been absolutely bobbins, he flatters to deceive and you can count on 1 hand his contributions to games.
He's looks weak, short of pace and lacking ideas.
Although we've rarely had creative wingers, they're usually 2nd full backs, so probably doesnt suit his game.
He doesnt work hard enough, and doesn't show enough in his brief periods of possession.

Re: Robbie Brady
Been a really poor signing overall. Needs shipping out just not good enough.
Re: Robbie Brady
Let's be blunt. Dogshit. Great free kick against Chelsea and looked like he might have potential before his injury. However has struggled in his bit parts since.

Re: Robbie Brady
You said he was crap at the time of his injury and that comment is garbage. I've seen nothing from him since though to suggest he's going to be good enough for us now.
Re: Robbie Brady
I meant I thought he was overall pretty crap before injury as a whole, not just the prior 2-3 games before injury where he did actually score a goal at Bournemouth.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 4:24 pmYou said he was crap at the time of his injury and that comment is garbage. Re: Robbie Brady
He was excellent in that game at Bournemouth, the injury really was a shame. It obviously takes time to come back from a serious injury, but what I find most disappointing is his seemingly lack of appetite in getting back to any sort of form. The game just seems to pass him by. Another one that needs to be moved on.

Our lack of urgency and intensity right across the pitch makes it difficult for any one player to make much of an impression (to my uneducated eyes).

Re: Robbie Brady
That's how I've seen him Nick although he's not ever been given a run in the team since because of the emergence of Dwight. In recent games he's offered very little and yet this was a signing that I thought was outstanding. Who knows how he would have performed had he not suffered that injury, he was bang in form at the time.NickBFC wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 4:29 pmHe was excellent in that game at Bournemouth, the injury really was a shame. He's not good enough. He isn't applying any real pressure on McNeil or JBG either. It's hardly like he's breathing down their necks in the battle to be picked (regualrly).

Re: Robbie Brady
Apart from half a dozen good games before his major injur he has been no where near good enough. Surprised by his selection today - baffling from Dyche.
Re: Robbie Brady
As he ever had a good 90 mins for us. Looks to go missing at times. Nowhere near good enough.
Re: Robbie Brady
A sad end. I think he plays in fear of getting clattered.
Everything is either a flick or a clearance.

I was surprised he was selected to start today ahead of JBG ,Hendrick and Lennon.
His performance today was shocking and disinterested and under Stan would never play for the club agaIn

Re: Robbie Brady
Couldn’t believe he started the game ahead of Gudmundsson today. A prime example of why the board might be reluctant to sanction any January signings as unfortunately imo he’s the worst in recent times. That said he was far from the worst of the bunch today, in a team that looked ill prepared or ready for the challenge especially in the first half.
Re: Robbie Brady
Brady needs to be replaced. As do Bardsley, Lowton and Lennon. We need an upgrade on Barnes and a decent central midfielder to challenge the current two. And a replacement for Hendrick if he isn't signing.
Other than that, the transfer window should be quiet.

Re: Robbie Brady
I’d take 5 Million for him in a breath. His best form and only really decent period came in the 4-5-1we played where he didn’t have as much defensive responsibility and had defour feeding it to his feet and hendrick playing quick one twos with him. He looked full of confidence and crucially was effecting Games when he got injured.
He needs a run of games in formation that suits him, we don’t have the luxury of time, personnel or the patience to see if that would benefit him. Also he’s not as good as JBG or McNeil to warrant the above.

A player who looks finished at this level. Should be looking to use him as a make weight in any transfer dealings.

Re: Robbie Brady
Brady was awful for the first half season we had him after his signing in January, then pretty good (along with the whole team) from August up until his injury at Leicester in the first half of the 7th place season.
I suffered an ACL injury playing football in April 2019, and have found the recovery difficult and the thought of playing football again (to me) is a scary prospect. With that in mind, since my injury I’ve always had sympathy for Brady seeming to struggle with the mental side of the recovery, but I’m afraid the sympathy has run out now.
The guy cost us £13m and will be one of our very highest earners as a result. I can stomach him perhaps not being good enough for us anymore following injury (I would say that is an indisputable statement now, sadly for him), but I won’t accept what I perceive to be a lack of effort and application. The game totally passes him by with very little input or demand for the ball from Brady.
This could be entirely down to the mental lack of trust in his knee that I think he has, but frankly, he has to get over that if he wants to be a professional footballer anymore. It’s a mental hurdle many struggle to overcome, sadly, but when you see the recoveries of the likes of Ings, Barnes and Vokes it shows it’s easily doable if you believe in the surgery and your body.
Waffled a bit there, but the sad fact is I don’t think he is anywhere near the quality required and if it is possible to offload him we should be doing it. One thinks that might be easier said than done. May well go down as our third worst ever signing pound for pound (after Gibson and Vydra!).

Quite simply plays like he is scared of getting hurt.
Re: Robbie Brady
My dog has 3 legs and chases a football harder than him
Re: Robbie Brady
Did my ACL when I was 17 and I've feared every 50/50 I've been in since. Feel sorry for him but do not think he will be the same player again.jedi_master wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 5:17 pmBrady was awful for the first half season we had him after his signing in January, then pretty good (along with the whole team) from August up until his injury at Leicester in the first half of the 7th place season.

Vydra and Gibson....both have disappeared off the radar completely, our last 2 marquee signings by Dyche... today Westwood,Tarkowski and Bardsley were really poor especially and as for Brady, well as been mentioned above he’s just not good enough at this level

Re: Robbie Brady
He wouldn't be the first player to go downhill after a serious injury. He'd started to look very much the player we'd hoped he'd be. He's never looked close since.
All in all, it's not really working for him here. Reckon we'd get some money back for him.
If he leaves it wouldn't bother me.

Re: Robbie Brady
His first appearance since his injury had me worried when he shirked a 80/20 challenge in his favour.
I wrote it off as nervousness about the injury but unfortunately now it seems he’s never going to regain the form prior to his injury.
It maybe best that he leaves the club as it now appears that his injury has negatively effected his ability, taking him below that required of a PL player.

He was playing well before the Leicester injury but to be honest that short period of form was pretty much the only good spell we have had out of him since he joined.
Like most people I thought he would be a good signing but he has been generally poor and to play him today was completely baffling.
