Ethical Veganism
Ethical veganism has been ruled to be a philosophical belief by a judge and should be protected under the Equality Act.

I wonder what the implications of this may be for employers and what they will now be required to provide to avoid being discriminatory.

Re: Ethical Veganism
If they do it for ethical reasons they better find a better way of mass producing vegan crops...

Re: Ethical Veganism
Anything that supports a move away from a predominantly meat based diet has got to be a good thing. Not necessarily towards veganism, but certainly towards a less meat based diet.
That’s both for ethical and environmental reasons.

The judgement is sound. Have they decided on the question of whether he was discriminated against because of this belief?

Not yet but from the report I don't see how he's got a chance.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 12:28 pmThe judgement is sound. Have they decided on the question of whether he was discriminated against because of this belief?

Re: Ethical Veganism
Ok now I’vE read it. So as it relates to the original story I see your point.
Veganism is good but this extreme point of view probably isn’t going encourage folk to eat less meat.

Re: Ethical Veganism
Isn't the guy's concern about the way his pension was being invested?
Re: Ethical Veganism
It's ironic that he should be campaigning against cruelty to animals by standing next to a fox. Has he any idea what foxes do? Why would anyone who is opposed to the eating of dead animals be stood next to a (representation of) a creature which eats animals without bothering to kill them first?
This is the big problem I have with "ethical veganism". It's all very well claiming that they want to prevent animal cruelty; but they don't. What they want is for humans and animals to live totally separate lives; on the same planet, but with no interaction. Why?

I could fall in love with my frying pan when I'm hankering after a good old fashioned fryup on a Sunday morning. I also love to get my hands on my wok.

Re: Ethical Veganism
What that survey is saying is that over 18 years, the chances of a meat eater having some form of heart or stroke problem were less tan 1% different from the non-meat eater. Which is too small to care about.dougcollins wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 6:00 pmVeganism is good - but not for your health.

Would I give up eating meat for 18 years to improve my chances of avoiding heart disease by 0.7%? Not a chance. As Auberon Waugh pointed out, nothing is worth giving up just to earn yourself two extra years in a nursing home.
